German Defense Minister: Trump Has Reached a Dead End
Germany's Defense Minister said the diesel deal with Russia shows that Trump has reached a dead end.
According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by Pravada, Boris Pistorius, the Minister of Defense of Germany, announced in a speech today that he believes that the recent U.S. President Donald Trump's turn towards Russia is the result of strong internal political pressures.
According to Ambassador Arjan (dpa), Boris Pistorius said in his speech at the employers' conference in Berlin that due to the short distance to the mid-term elections in the United States, Trump is in a situation where he is in dire straits.
Pistorius then added: History shows that whenever the leaders are under pressure inside the country, they turn to foreign policy to get out of the situation. The gasoil agreement with Russia shows that Trump has reached an impasse.
The German Defense Minister added that he believes that Trump's action will have the opposite effect.
Pistorius's comments came after Trump announced on October 9 that after talks with Vladimir Putin, an agreement had been reached to supply hundreds of thousands of tons of diesel fuel from the country.
