According to Ambassador Arjan, on Thursday 24 Mehr 1331, Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh, the Prime Minister of Iran at the time, during a detailed report addressed to the Iranian nation about the oil issue, announced the termination of official relations with the British government. This report, which was supposed to be read in the National Assembly, was published through the press due to the lack of quorum.
In this historical document, Mossadegh explains that Iran's national movement has been facing disruptions and provocations by the agents of the former company and the British government since the first day. After London's failure to use the tactic of military intimidation and border threats, and the failure to bring the case to the Security Council and the International Court of Justice in The Hague, England turned to economic and financial pressure to make the Iranian nation desperate. However, the Iranian government repeatedly proposed many solutions in good faith to pay compensation and resolve disputes, but all of them were met with delays and failures.
Emphasizing that the imposed and colonial agreement of 1933 has no legal validity and cannot be used as a document for demanding compensation or unreasonable disinterest, the Prime Minister declared that it is useless to continue political relations with a government that prefers its illegitimate interests over the rights of the Iranian nation. However, he clarified that the severance of political relations between the two nations does not mean the severance of friendship between the two nations, and the Iranian nation will always remain loyal to its independence and freedom.
