Emphasis on Improving Media Literacy of Mothers and Women in Nahavand

Hamadan – Nahavand Governor said that if mothers and women are equipped with media literacy, they can turn existing threats into constructive opportunities for their families and society.

According to Mehr reporter, Mojtabi Biranvand emphasized the importance of the role of mothers and families in knowingly facing the opportunities and threats of cyberspace at noon on Wednesday at the women and family working group meeting of Nahavand city and added: If mothers and women are equipped with media literacy and acquire the necessary knowledge on the correct use of cyberspace, they can turn existing threats into productive opportunities for the family and society.

Stating that dealing with the harms of cyberspace is not the task of a specific organization, he added: Education, cultural and social institutions, the judicial system and other responsible groups should play a role in this field through interaction and synergy, and families should also take their responsibility seriously and provide better management of children's use of cyberspace by supporting mothers.

Emphasizing the necessity of educating families to manage children's and teenagers' use of cyberspace and monitoring the content they receive, Governor Nahavand called for the holding of media literacy training courses for mothers and women and said: The formation of local working groups of mothers to exchange experience and mutual support, produce and promote useful content that fits the culture of families, and the cooperation of schools to educate parents and students at the same time should be considered.

He also emphasized the need for coordination between schools in providing information through virtual platforms and added: It is necessary to consider a specific time frame for sending educational messages and announcements in the virtual space of schools, especially the Shad platform, so that families and students do not encounter educational messages outside of normal hours.

Pointing to the necessity of increasing public awareness about the security risks of cyberspace, including methods of intrusion and hacking of mobile phones, Biranvand called for the use of the capacity of experts to hold educational meetings and inform families and managers.

In addition, he considered continuous monitoring of cyberspace damage at the city level and providing relevant reports as other necessary measures and noted: We must prevent social, moral and psychological damage by expert planning and adopting strategies that are appropriate to the conditions of Nahavand city and provide the environment for safe and responsible use of cyberspace.

Stating that virtual space is no longer a phenomenon separate from real life, Governor Nahavand stated: Today, many communications, social interactions, and even personal issues of people are affected by this space, and the publication of content and images can have serious consequences for people's lives, and this area cannot be abandoned, and its damage must be managed through education, awareness, and expert supervision.

He also pointed to the importance of protecting the country's future generation and emphasized the need to pay attention to high-risk behaviors in cyberspace, including students' use of bank cards and invalid accounts, and called for the cooperation of families and responsible institutions to prevent possible harm.

Emphasizing that the proposals made in the meetings should be able to be implemented at the city level, Biranvand called for providing practical solutions, formulating follow-up approvals and strengthening cooperation between the institutions and said: The purpose of criticizing and expressing concerns is to help solve problems and manage existing challenges.
