Immigration Enforcement Agents Search Home of Ilhan Omar in Pre-Dawn Raid
Home of Ilhan Omar, Member of Parliament, Raided Before Dawn
DC Representative Ilhan Omar's house was searched by HSI agents
Several federal agents wearing HSI jackets were spotted outside Omar's home in Washington, D.C., in the early hours of Monday.
Two sources close to the investigation said the search stemmed from a criminal fraud investigation into the Somali-born congressman's immigration documents, which were filled out by his late father when he was a child.
The raid began around 6 a.m. led by HSI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Department of Justice (DOJ) is also involved in this investigation.
Border czar Tom Homan said in mid-September that the progressive congressman was the subject of an ongoing "criminal" investigation.
HSI is the primary research arm of DHS. Its scope includes the investigation of transnational crimes and global threats, including human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children, drug trafficking and cybercrime. HSI plays a major frontline role in America's counterterrorism operations.
