Salma Blair Arrested After Attack on Flight Attendants at JFK

According to officials, actress Salma Blair was arrested on Sunday at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York on charges of assaulting flight attendants on a Delta Air Lines flight. Blair's arrest took place around 11 p.m., after Port Authority of New York and New Jersey officials said they had responded to a call 'about a physically abusive passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight.'

Actress Salma Blair was arrested Sunday at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York for allegedly assaulting flight attendants on a Delta Air Lines flight, authorities said.

Blair's arrest came about 11 p.m. after New York and New Jersey Port Authority officials said they received a call "about a physically abusive passenger on Delta Air Lines Flight 938 parked at the gate after arriving from Los Angeles (LAX)" at JFK.

The Port Authority also said Monday that Blair, 54, was "arrested and transported to the hospital for evaluation." Two flight attendants also reported injuries and one was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

The FBI -- which investigates reports of plane crime -- is investigating Sunday's allegations against Blair, the port official said.

Asked about Blair's arrest, a Delta spokeswoman said the airline "does not tolerate unruly or illegal behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first."

The spokesman added that Blair's arrest did not affect the flight he and his fellow passengers were on - and it still landed at JFK ahead of schedule.

Several news outlets reported Monday that Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant, bit another and tried to open the plane's door.

However, a statement released by officials did not immediately address the reported details.

The Guardian has contacted Blair's representatives for additional comment, her publicist told The Hollywood Reporter: "Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged behavior. After landing, she received immediate medical attention and is [now] in a stable condition."

Sunday was at least the second time Blair was involved in such an incident. In 2016, she reportedly started screaming uncontrollably before she was on a flight to Los Angeles from Cancun, Mexico.

Blair apologized after the previous episode, saying she "mixed alcohol with medicine".

"It made me black and it made me say and do things that I deeply regret," Blair said at the time.

The actor also made headlines for being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018. And in February 2024, he apologized for making an Islamophobic comment on social media.

Among the actors of Blair's film, we can mention Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and Hellboy. She earned a nomination for Best World Children's Album at the 2011 Grammy Awards for her work on Anne Frank: Memoirs of a Young Girl - The Definitive Edition.
