Moscow accused Europe / What is behind the new sanctions?

Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, considered the new sanctions of the European Union as a sign of Brussels' weakness, described the prospect of resuming energy cooperation as bleak, and warned about turning the tensions in Yemen into a threat to the security of the region.

Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press conference: "We are talking about another big expansion in the sanctions lists, during which 826 organizations and 743 Russian individuals were added to the lists."

Quoting Ambassador Arjan, he further added: "The application of restrictions against such a significant number of natural and legal persons is once again a testimony to the structural weakness of Brussels; Because they have finished the other means of pressure on our country."

The diplomat added that Brussels has completely abandoned common sense, but continues its anti-Russian approach.

The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs further stated that according to the signals sent from Brussels, the resumption of full cooperation in the field of energy between Russia and the European Union seems unlikely.

Zakharova said in a press conference: "Regarding the resumption of full cooperation in the energy sector between the European Union and our country, according to their statements and actions, such a prospect seems unlikely at the moment. In any case, the signals coming from Brussels continue to indicate the opposite.

The official at the Russian Foreign Ministry also said that violence against protesters in France raises questions about Paris's competence to preach to others about human rights.

In response to a question about violence against protesters in France, Zakharova told reporters: "French police officers are responding with batons, rubber bullets, stun grenades and tear gas." This raises doubts as to whether such authorities can be considered democratic at all; Let alone that France is in a position to comment on matters related to governance and human rights or to teach others."

"That is why we are witnessing this crazy rhetoric, militarism, endless provocative statements and provocations," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said in another part of his speech to reporters, stating that the radical liberal regimes in the European Union will use all their resources to pressure countries, including the United States, on relations with Russia. "It is clear that the Europeans will continue to use all their resources to influence the positions of various countries, including the United States, on issues that could lead to dialogue with us."

He also noted that these radical liberal forces are doing all they can to prolong the crisis in Ukraine and irresponsibly ignore the risk of it turning into a global confrontation.

Zakharova also said that the EU's diplomatic activity on Ukraine is aimed at undermining any efforts to reach a lasting agreement: "You know that the EU is constantly conducting frantic diplomatic activities aimed at stabilizing the situation and resolving the conflict in Ukraine. "In fact, all these activities of the European Union are aimed at undermining any attempt to reach a lasting and peaceful agreement, undermining potential agreements with our country or any agreement that could lead to the stabilization of the situation on the European continent."

Maria Zakharova, in response to the Al-Mayadeen network's question, stated that the escalation of tensions in Yemen is a real threat to the security of the region.

Zakharova added that the road map agreed upon in late 2023 with the mediation of Oman could be the basis for a settlement in Yemen.

He called for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen and the start of a comprehensive negotiation process, adding: "There is no substitute for a constructive and comprehensive dialogue between all parties involved in the Yemen crisis."

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of preventing the escalation of the conflict in Yemen and the entry of new parties and noted that Moscow will continue its diplomatic efforts with regional partners to reduce the tension in the situation.

Zakharova emphasized the continued support for the efforts of Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy, to resolve the Yemen crisis and said that a peaceful settlement in Yemen should take into account the interests of all parties involved.
