Age Gap With Players Widens Year by Year/ Enrique: This Issue Scares Me at PSG!

PSG Coach Speaks of Splendid Relationship With Club's Sporting Director, Recalls Humorous Moment With Vitinha.

According to "Sports Three", Luis Enrique, who is spending his fourth season in Paris Saint-Germain, gave a positive assessment of his presence in this Parisian club and talked about the coordination with the president of the club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the intimacy with Luis Campos, the sports director, and the intimate atmosphere of the dressing room.

This 55-year-old coach emphasized in an interview with the website of the club that won the last two European Champions League titles: "My relationship with Luis Campos was very special from the very first moment. This is a magnificent combination. We are all present with each other with the aim of progressing and making the fans happy." He went on to outline his role in the club's structure before recalling a memorable memory of the Portuguese sporting director.

Enrique continued his praise: "A sports manager must be brave. He must recruit players who fit the head coach's ideas. In our case, the ideas of Luis Campos and I are very similar and this is one of the keys to our success, along with the club's ability to attract amazing players."

He then mentioned an important memory: "I had the chance to work with very good sports managers in the past. In particular, I remember my recent conversations with my son Pacho. I reminded him of the day Luis Campos came to my house at the beginning of our working relationship. He knew where I lived, he came to see me personally and I remember that moment very well. My connection with Louis was clear from the first minutes. He was someone I didn't know very well yet, but I quickly felt that he trusted me and wanted to do great things for the club. This connection literally took me by surprise. This moment was very important for me. I've had good collaborations before, but this one was especially strong. This is the best way to work for a head coach: to have that kind of trust and to step alongside each other."

Faced with the youth of the players and the challenge of generational differences in the dressing room, this Spanish coach, while accepting these conditions, shared a funny memory of Vitinia, the Portuguese midfielder of the team.

"Honestly, it scares me a little bit," Enrique admitted. The age difference between young players like Ibrahim last year and me is getting bigger every year. But when I look at my coaching record, I find that I have always been able to establish good relationships with the players. I believe that this trend can continue even with this age difference. I really like to laugh, joke and be close to the players. That's what gives me energy: connecting with them, sending jokes and sharing moments together. I remember Vitinia sometimes telling me, I don't know if you are serious or not." And I answer him that it is up to you to recognize it! (laughter). I like this kind of relationship."
