K/DA Reactivates Social Accounts, Fueling Comeback Rumors for K-Pop Virtual Group After 6 Years

K/DA's official accounts have been updated for the first time in six years. New profile and banner images still feature promotional art from the All Out era, now with added hot pink flames. The reactivated accounts have also deleted existing posts, fueling rumors that the virtual girl group is preparing to return.

The official K/DA accounts have been updated for the first time in six years. The new profile and banner images continue to feature the existing promo art from the All Out era, now with the addition of hot pink flames. Reactivated accounts have also deleted existing posts, fueling rumors that the virtual girl group is preparing for a comeback.

Introduced at the 2018 League of Legends World Championship, K/DA consists of four league champions (Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai'Sa) voiced by international pop stars. The group's first single, aptly titled POP/STARS, was the first K-pop song by a girl group to be certified RIAA Platinum in 2022. The girl group's early success led to the release of a full-length EP, All Out, in 2020.

Since then, the band has pretty much gone dark. The K/DA skins are still in the game, but there's no word on new music or performances. until now

I don't want much. I just want to see a K/DA teaser that is this high.

An updated banner image still used promotional images from the All Out era and featured the original K/DA quartet alongside guest artist Serafin, who was a newly released hero at the time. However, as of October 13, these images also show the addition of hot pink and magenta flares.

A Datamining leak from earlier this year raised hopes that the group would play a role in the current League of Legends season. Legends details in the Wild Rift update, first spotted by SkinSpotlights, hinted at a potential "Firestarter" skin concept, as well as a new ASCAP-listed song.

Other users have interpreted the purple smoke as a sign of K/DA being added to Fortnite, which is currently using similar colored images for its Fortnitemares event.

The issue of K/DA's return goes beyond Riot, as it also depends on the availability of four singers associated with the group: Madison Beer, Soyeon, Miyeon and Jaira Burns.

Online fan accounts have recently circulated a rumor that Bear has left the band. The singer himself was asked about his return to K/DA during his recent Locket tour and said, "I would love to. It's not really about me, although I wish it was. There was actually talk about doing something again a few years ago, but I don't know what happened to that."

Riot has yet to confirm any rumors regarding the return of K/DA, let alone who the group currently consists of. The League of Legends World Championship is currently being hosted across the United States, with the grand finals scheduled for November 14th. With K/DA making their Worlds debut, it's likely we'll hear more during this year's event.
