Babaei: The Islamic World Must Not Be Held Captive to the Scientific Standards of the Dominant System
QOM – The deputy for research at the country's women's seminaries criticized the dominance of Western standards in evaluating science and stressed the need to strengthen scientific diplomacy and leverage the capacities of the Islamic world.
According to Mehr reporter, Hojjatul-Islam Wal-Muslimin Babaei, at the closing ceremony of the 18th Scientific Research Festival of the Lady of Karamat, which was held at the Ayatollah Sharia Hall of the Sisters Seminary Management Center, said that scientific awards are more than a symbol of appreciation for researchers and stated: These awards are part of the development process of science and affect the direction of research and expanding the scope of knowledge.
Criticizing the influence of power systems on international scientific awards, the vice president of research of the country's sister seminaries added: Some world awards have become a media tool to instill the scientific superiority of the West and promote the idea that the Islamic world does not play an effective role in the production of science.
Referring to the position of the Nobel Prize, he stated: This prize has become a global brand, which in his view can serve to stabilize the domination system and lead the Muslim elite to accept Western standards for evaluating scientific capabilities.
Referring to the Mustafa Award, Babaei said: This award emphasizes the scientific capabilities of the Islamic world and the presence of prominent scientists in Islamic countries.
The Islamic world needs scientific diplomacy
He considered the weakness of communication between researchers of Islamic countries as one of the obstacles to scientific development and stated: The main problem of the Islamic world is not the lack of scientists, but the lack of coherent scientific and knowledge communication between Iran, Arab countries and other Islamic regions.
Referring to the concept of data division, the Vice President of Research of Sisters Seminaries of the country said: the discontinuity in the Islamic world is not limited to the field of politics, but the dispersion of information and lack of communication between scientific centers has also hindered the utilization of common capacities.
Babaei added: The Islamic world has extensive data, which, if collected and connected, can be used to develop artificial intelligence in accordance with the needs and knowledge of Islamic civilization.
He pointed out: In a situation where the development of artificial intelligence is based on the data and patterns of the Western world, the dispersion of information in Islamic countries has prevented the effective use of the scientific power of these countries.
Festivals should aim at future issues
The Vice President of Research of Sisters Seminaries of the country emphasized the need for scientific awards to become more specialized and said: instead of focusing on general topics such as Islamic sciences, specific fields such as interpretation, hadith, theology and history should be taken into account in order to provide a more accurate evaluation of the works.
Babaei added: Scientific festivals should not only evaluate the achievements of the past, but also identify the challenges ahead and encourage researchers to respond to the scientific needs of the coming years.
He considered the use of spirituality and purity as one of the characteristics of research activities in seminaries and stated: This capacity should be considered in the structure and mechanism of holding scientific festivals.
The selected works are published in the form of a book
In describing the support programs for the festival's winners, Babaei said: The three best works will be published in the form of books with the support of Hajar Publications, and the approved articles will also be published in specialized magazines.
He also announced the expansion of the relationship between the Lady of Dignity Festival and the Allameh Halli Festival and added: Based on the memorandum of understanding concluded with the Brethren Seminary, the Lady of Dignity Festival will be extended and those accepted will enter the Allameh Halli Festival.
