Asian Producers' Union Formed

Independent producers from five Asian countries, working together, launched the Asian Producers' Union in the film and content market of the Busan International Film Festival to pursue joint cross-border production and greater protection of creators' rights.

Working together, independent producers from five Asian countries launched the Asian Producers Alliance at the Busan Film Festival's film and content market to push for cross-border co-production and greater protection of creators' rights.

Kim Ji-yeon, producer of the series "Squid Game" and board member of the Korea Producers Association, read the founding statement as representatives of the five organizations took the stage.

"For years we have faced the same changes alone, in our own markets, in our own language," it said.

Today we have decided to face these changes together. We will be co-producing across Asia so that our stories can be made together and travel further afield.”

The Korea Producers Association, the Indonesian Film Producers Association, the Philippine Independent Producers Association, the Hong Kong Film Producers Association and the Taiwan Producers Association have formed this coalition.

Its members are independent producers with no studio, company or government agency involved.

Two producer associations of Korea and Indonesia have established this group with the approval of all five members.
