German Chancellor's Overreach in Call with Mohammed bin Salman Over Iran, Demands Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, ignored Western aggression against Iran, accused Tehran of destabilizing the region, and called for a return to negotiations and the reopening of regional waterways.

In a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, German Chancellor Friedrich Mertes accused Tehran of destabilizing Iran and demanded the return of negotiations and the opening of regional waterways.

Ambassador Arjan-International Group: Following the recent developments in the West Asian region and the tensions surrounding the security of vital waterways, the authorities of Western countries have raised interventionist positions. In this regard, Stefan Cornelius, the spokesman of the German government, announced the telephone conversation between the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Mertes, and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.

In this conversation, Mertes accused Tehran of what he called "destabilization in the region" without considering the main source of instability in the region, which is caused by the aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran in recent years. Ambassador Arjan reported that the two sides also exchanged views on the recent attacks of the Yemeni armed forces and the crisis situation in the Middle East.

In this call, the German chancellor condemned the attacks of the Yemeni armed forces on Saudi Arabia and demanded the reopening of the Bab al-Mandab strait without delay. This is despite the fact that the recent conflicts between the Yemeni army and the Saudi coalition have intensified after Riyadh's attempt to break the naval blockade of Yemen and the response of the Yemeni forces.

On the other hand, Mertes, regardless of Iran's sovereignty and safe control over the Strait of Hormuz, demanded the permanent and unrestricted reopening of this waterway. The strait that Tehran has announced will remain closed until Washington fails to fulfill its obligations and cancel the maritime blockade and sanctions. Islamabad's memorandum of understanding was previously prepared to resolve these issues, but it was stopped due to the bad faith of the western side.

Continuing his claims, the German chancellor asked Iran to enter into serious negotiations, to stop the peaceful nuclear program of our country and to give in to the claim of ending the tensions; Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly emphasized that nuclear weapons have no place in the country's defense doctrine.

Examining the impact of wars and regional disputes on the price of energy in Germany and ways to stabilize the oil market are reported to be among the other topics of conversation between Mertes and Ben Salman.

The recent developments in Yemen showed that the atmosphere in the region is in an incalculable state. 12 years have passed since the beginning of the Saudi coalition war against Yemen. In the meantime, the three Arab countries of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were involved in a war for more than eight years, and finally the anti-Yemen coalition broke up, the UAE left the territory of Yemen, and negotiations between Riyadh and Sana'a took place, but there was no tangible result.

In a controversial statement, Mansheh Amir did not consider Israel's entry into the war with Yemen's Ansarullah to the benefit of this regime and criticized the performance of the Saudi army, claiming that despite having advanced weapons, this army is not able to use them effectively.

Ha'aretz newspaper reported on Benjamin Netanyahu's attempt to get Saudi Arabia's support in the military campaign against Yemen's Ansarullah with the mediation of the United States. According to knowledgeable sources, this effort has been met with the opposition of Mohammad bin Salman. Israel's goal of this plan, in addition to military cooperation, is to expand relations with Riyadh and pave the way for the normalization of relations.
