Big Walk developers explain why the game is not on Xbox and likely never will be, 'until Microsoft and/or Xbox are removed from the BDS boycott target list.'

"We have decided not to release Big Walk on Xbox, in line with the Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement's call to boycott Microsoft, and designate Microsoft (and Xbox) games as a priority boycott target." Through a post on social networks
Big Walk is the most fun I've had in a co-op game all year, maybe a few years. It's definitely at the top of my list for the best games to play with friends. I'm not the only one who thinks this, just ask anyone on the PC Gamer team or the millions of other players who started the game in the first week. But not everyone got a chance to check it out as developer House House confirms that The Big Walk isn't coming to Xbox anytime soon.
"It's always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and we know that keeping the Xbox game out of the way goes against those goals," House said. "This decision means some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the frustration we're causing. We're disappointed too. We'd love for people to be able to play this game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox are removed as targets of the BDS boycott."
It's a tough decision, but one that ultimately has its merits. Just last year, it was revealed in a report that the Israeli military was using a custom Azure subset provided by Microsoft to store intercepted telecommunications data in Gaza and the West Bank. This led to employee protests and the addition of Xbox to the targets of the BDS boycott.
"We made this decision with the belief that meaningful change can be made in the world," House House adds. "This concerted collective action can challenge even the most powerful interests, and that's one day. Palestine will be free.
House House told players curious about its motivations to check out its BDS campaign explainer on why it targeted Xbox and Microsoft. It also recommends reviewing "the successes this kind of pressure has had on Microsoft before, and in particular watching this excellent introductory piece by People Makes Games."
