EXCLUSIVE: With the latest production wrapped on Wednesday, Tim Burton may already be eyeing what's next in the story department, as sources tell Deadline that he's teaming up with Nobel Prize-winning writer Kazuo Ishiguro on an untitled new film. Insiders say the film is still in development, but the plan is for Burton to direct from a script by Ishiguro.

As with everything Burton-related, plot details are being kept under wraps, though multiple sources say the story is set in post-World War II Japan. Sources also say it's an original script by Ishiguro and not based on a previous or upcoming novel. The film currently has no distributor and the probable plan is to package and market it with talent once it is ready.

While it hasn't been confirmed if this will be the director's next film as it's technically still in development, it's the project he's been most focused on since production wrapped on Wednesday. Other than Burton and Ishiguro, there is no other talent at the moment. Watch on Deadline

As for Ishiguro, while he's best known for his acclaimed novels like Never Let Go and Clara and the Sun, he's dabbled in screenwriting, most recently penning Living , starring Bill Nighy. The pairing of these two is like a unique yet perfect fit that is sure to catch the attention of A-list talent from around town.

Speaking of talent, the two also have a special A-lister connection as Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is set to star in the film, an adaptation of Ishiguro's Clara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi, which bows next week.

We will share more details as more information becomes available about this project.
