Have you ever looked at your phone and thought, "It should just play music and be shinier"? Well, good news: Sony is bringing a $5,899 Walkman to market, with a gold plating.
Have you ever looked at your phone and thought, "It should just play music and it should be brighter?" Well, good news, Sony is releasing a $5,899 Walkman that has a gold finish. The NW-WM1ZM3 will be available in January, but pre-orders are available now.
Gold isn't just for show, according to Sony. According to the official announcement:
The NW-WM1ZM3 is built around a precision-machined, gold-plated oxygen-free copper (OFC) chassis specifically designed to further enhance the sound quality of this flagship model. They have a 99.99% (4N) pure OFC main chassis and an OFC back frame with protective back cover. The gold plating is exclusively applied to this model and provides a stable ground connection that delivers powerful bass, wide soundstage and smooth, extended high frequencies."
Do you agree with Sony sending PS5 AI coded patches?
Only if I'm sure it won't break anything else.
It also has 35 hours of battery life, a 5.5-inch screen, and uses Sony's DSD Remastering engine for better sound quality.
This is not Sony's first gold Walkman. It released the NW-WM1ZM2 in 2022 for $3,200. If you're looking for a bargain, they're going for around $1,500 on eBay right now.
