The news comes just 24 hours after the streamer underwent a massive layoff that laid off around 1,000 employees.

Bajaria joined the company in 2016, initially running its unscripted television program, and was named chief content officer in January 2023.

There have been rumors over the past few weeks about him leaving the company, all of which have been denied internally. Puck reports that former Disney executive Peter Rice is in line to replace him.

This is while the growth of the streamer has slowed down. Ted Sarandos, the company's CEO, said recently at the Bloomberg Screentime event: "At the time we said this, I think we weren't quite straightforward about how we talked about engagement. Meaning in that world, all revenue is equal, a profit is equal, all engagement is equal, and all engagement is not equal. We're increasing engagement, in the last g2000000000 hours, in the 20% of our announced viewing."

Netflix is struggling with ratings for the second season of many of its shows, including Beef and The Four Seasons. In his latest earnings video, Saranos claimed to have actually improved the problem this year, saying it's "very common" in the industry. However, such issues could not help Bajaria's cause.
