Political consultant Tim Myint walked a yellow Labrador on a leash Tuesday afternoon before entering a home that was searched early Monday morning amid a federal investigation into Omar's immigration status.
His visit came on the same day that U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced that her office was investigating Omar's financial disclosures on the couple's joint net worth report.
Two sources close to the HSI investigation said the raid was part of a criminal fraud investigation into immigration documents for a Somali-born congressman filled out by his late father when he was a child.
Ilhan Omar's wealth scandal unfolded just one day after his home in DC was raided.
Omar's husband is at the center of one of the congressman's most high-profile controversies, as his financial disclosure filings dropped significantly in reported value over the span of one filing period.
Pirro revealed that his office is now investigating Omar's financial disclosures after the Office of Congressional Conduct dropped its misconduct investigation into the congressman in September. Tuesday's announcement opens a new chapter in the investigation into the Minnesota Democrat.
Controversy surrounding Omar's finances began when a 2024 financial report estimated that Omar and Maynet had between $6 million and $30 million in assets, all while the Minnesota fraud scandal was in Somalia. The community was catching up.
The biggest change was in the documents related to Minet assets. His reported ownership interests in both the winery and venture capital consulting firm, once worth millions of dollars, are now listed as worthless.
In Omar's 2024 financial disclosures, Maynet's stake in his winery was valued at between $1 million and $5 million, and his stake in his venture capital advisory firm was valued at between $5 million and $25 million. Now, his dividends are both listed at $0.
Omar Ardak questions as investigations into the cases that have reduced his reported wealth by millions.
Myint was a corporate partner working on Omar's 2020 re-election campaign. The two announced their marriage in March 2020.
This is Omar's third marriage, but it is not his most controversial marriage. The "Squad" Democrat has also come under fire for her first marriage to a man who many claim is her brother. Critics and skeptics claim that the two were married as part of an immigration scheme.
