Obsession Star Explores How Anime Like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer Helped Her Learn Screenwriting

Indy Navarre says that watching different anime has helped him to better understand the differences in story telling, time structure and characterisation.

Inde Navarre, best known for playing the role of Nikki Freeman in Obsession, says that while waiting for his career to progress, he seriously looked into the world of anime to gain a better understanding of screenwriting and storytelling. Navarre's portrayal of Nicky in the movie Obsession didn't make him famous quickly. In fact, after the production of the film and before its release, there was a period of time when he was not sure about his future career and did not know what path would be ahead of him.

During this time, he started streaming video games on Twitch to make ends meet. He also decided to investigate the way of storytelling in movies and television works by watching some of his favorite anime. Among these works, the two anime Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen attracted his attention more than others. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Navarre explained his interest in exploring the structure of stories:

Gradually, I started studying cinema, watching movies and asking myself why I like them. What I like is anime; So I asked myself why I like anime. For example, Jujutsu Kaisen is a very attractive anime in my opinion, but why is it so different from Demon Slayer? What sets it apart from other anime?

He further pointed out one of the important differences between these two works and said:

In Jujutsu Kaisen they play with timelines, but in Demon Slayer that doesn't happen and the narrative is completely linear. What does this difference mean and how does it affect storytelling?

Navarre explained that in order to find the answers to these questions, he deeply examined the narrative structure of Jujutsu Kaisen. This process helped him to better understand the importance of chronological order of events and how to convey information to the audience. This artist said about what he learned:

I went really deep and explored why Jujutsu Kaisen is so good. I learned a lot about timelines and storytelling; For example, a character can have an action at the beginning whose importance is determined two episodes later or even at the end of the story. Even that character may be dead by then and the audience will find out about this at the same moment. Then I tried to use these learnings in screenwriting and learn in this way.

Navarre considers himself a connoisseur of the world of entertainment and popular culture. His interest is not only limited to anime, and video games also have a special place among his favorite hobbies; His activities on Twitch also showed this. The actor was recently surprised with a special gift during a fan gathering. A fan gave him a sealed copy of Modern Warfare 2 (2009). This shows that Navarre's interest in video games is more than just a hobby. He also plans to enter the field of voice acting; One of Navarre's dream projects is to voice one of the characters of the Resident Evil game series. In a new interview, Navarre said about this interest:

I want to go to a smaller project first to measure the conditions and gain experience and then do something different; Because video games are obviously one of my biggest passions. In particular, I love the world of Resident Evil.

Currently, Navarre is gearing up to play Rogue in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot. He has already assured fans that he will do his best to portray the character in the best way possible. He said about this role:

I will try my best and do whatever I can because I love this character. I have read about him and I want to do the right thing about this character; Both for me, for Jake Schreier (the film's director), for the image they want to present, and for what I, as a fan, would like to see from the character. I will try my best!

Considering that Navarre is looking for a more serious entry into the field of voice acting, it is possible that we will hear his voice in the English dubbed version of one of the anime in the future; For example, maybe it will appear in one of the upcoming seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen.

He is one of the best actors and people I have ever seen, I really like his character, he has cool interests.

Couldn't you find more garbage than Kimtsuno Yaiba for the script?

It was probably the case of Luqman who said that I learned politeness from rude people

These are really the most superficial works possible

How much do I hate this girl? Like Zendaya and Jenna Ortgah, she is very unattractive. Elki also became famous. She has acted in a movie. Other actresses like Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, and Sidney Sink, Samura Weaving, played in many famous movies. They became famous and served themselves. Now, Indy Navarre's daughter played in a movie. She said, "I want to be a director."
