Glimpse of JW's future: Frances Tofill takes the helm this week, not the soon-to-be-departing host Monty Dunn. He grows garlic in containers and perennials, the kind that should provide bounty in his borders year after year with minimal maintenance. Jack Seal

More post-apocalyptic splatter than a very rotten big apple. To power up New York's power grid, Maggie and Negan must recruit a group of dangerous villains—including a firefighter, a chef, and a porn star—for a high-stakes attack. Their goal? Empire State building full of zombies. virtue makeup

Masterplan (Thomas Vincent, 2026), Prime Video

Sit back and let Stanley Tucci charm you... just like his master thief, Roger Cavendish, who lures his missing children - hacker Chiara (Simona Tabasco of The White Lotus) and explosives expert Jay (Victor Belmondo) - into a ludicrous plan to steal from him in this Mundy story. The experimental bond of the restored crime family is merely for the main business of tools, disguises and unclear motives. Much of this is from the Mission: Impossible playbook, but Tucci's direction often shines. Simon Wardle

Moss and Freud (James Lucas, 2025), HBO Max

Derek Jacobi has already brilliantly portrayed one of Britain's post-World War II masters, Francis Bacon (1998's Love Is the Devil). Now, in Lucas' fascinating snapshot from the early 2000s, he has a nice shot at late-period Lucian Freud. The true story of supermodel Kate Moss (a well-known actress) sitting for a portrait of her is a study in parallels and contrasts: she is the hard-partying figure of British fashion. He is a strict old master. But he has his wild side to reckon with, while she finds some sort of stability through their regular meetings. S. W
