The severe pollution produced by the Bazan refinery forced the closure of many centers in Haifa, including the schools of this city.
According to the report of Ambassador Arjan, channel 13 of the Zionist regime, all infrastructure activities of the Bazan refinery complex were suspended due to severe pollution.
The mayor of Haifa announced that it will not be possible to reopen schools until the pollution caused by this refinery (which was targeted by a retaliatory missile during the 12-day terrorist war against Iran) is removed.
The report further states: Following the publication of the unnatural air pollution in the media, Bazan Group announced that it has suspended the infrastructural works responsible for the emission of gases.
At two schools in the nearby town of Kiryat Ata, students stayed at home, and the mayor announced that "returning to schools will only be possible after the highest level of safety has been achieved."
He added: "This violation of the law must be stopped and the refineries must be closed by 2029."
Today (Monday), under the pressure of the media, Bazan Group announced the suspension of the infrastructure works responsible for the emission of pollutants. Yona Yahav, the mayor of Haifa, stated earlier: "School closing due to the presence of carcinogenic substances in the air is not only a warning, but a real alarm for this city. This violation of the law must be stopped."
He added: "This is a dangerous and unacceptable incident. "Children should not be forced to stay in their homes due to air pollution from petrochemical plants, and residents should not be ordered to lock themselves in their homes and close their windows to protect their health."
In a part of the report, it was revealed that the pollutant concentration measured yesterday (Sunday) in a school in Kiryat Ata was the highest in recent years and reached 12.9 cubic meters per day, which is 3.3 times the legal limit. Benzene is a definite carcinogen that causes an increase in blood cancer (leukemia); However, Israel's ministries of environmental protection, health and education did not see the need to cancel classes at that school yesterday.
