Technical upgrade begins for high-risk U-turns on the Arak-Qom road

Arak – Deputy for Social Affairs and Crime Prevention at the Markazi Province Justice Department announced that most high-risk points on the Arak–Qom route are being corrected, and stressed the urgent need to fix technical defects at the U-turns.

Arak - Vice President of Social Affairs and Crime Prevention of Justice of the Central Province announced the improvement of most of the high-risk points on the Arak-Qom route and emphasized the need to immediately fix the technical deficiencies of the roundabouts.

According to Mehr reporter, Mohsen Khairmand stated before noon on Tuesday in the review and follow-up meeting of urban and road accident reduction solutions in the central province: the unusual level difference in the entrance and exit ramps of roundabouts can make it difficult to control the car and increase the possibility of overturning and collision of vehicles. Therefore, these deficiencies were identified in joint field visits with the traffic police and should be prioritized in the corrective plans of the responsible agencies.

He added: The organization and registration of roundabouts has started with a focus on the Arak-Qom axis, and most of the high-risk points of this route have been corrected, but still some secondary and rural roads need immediate security measures due to technical deficiencies.

Khairmand emphasized that road safety should be pursued beyond temporary measures and in the form of a continuous program, and stated: Identifying accident-prone spots will lead to a reduction in accidents when the authorities in charge act at the right time to eliminate deficiencies and complete the required infrastructure.

He pointed out the problems of agricultural equipment traffic in the area of Khairabad village and around the Manzariyeh area on the Arak-Qom axis and said: to prevent the traffic going against the direction of farmers and local residents and to reduce the risks caused by this situation, the completion of the underpass bridge opening in this area was previously approved so that after creating a suitable access road, the possibility of blocking the accident-prone roundabout would be provided.

The Vice President of Social Affairs and Crime Prevention of Justice of the Central Province emphasized: The non-implementation of the obligations related to the construction of the access bridge has caused the accident-prone conditions of this area to continue. Therefore, the new administration of the province's road administration should urgently carry out the necessary technical and executive follow-ups and take action to solve this problem.

The need to control the speed of passenger buses

Vice President of Social Affairs and Crime Prevention of Central Province, also referring to the dangers caused by illegal speed in the public transport fleet, said: the requirement of passenger companies in the province to install speed monitors in buses and to set up SMS systems to report traffic violations should be placed on the agenda of the relevant commissions.

He added: Unauthorized speed of buses is one of the serious concerns in the field of road travel safety, and it should be possible to inform passengers about the speed status and report potential violations by strengthening monitoring tools.

Khairmand considered the reduction in the number of services of some transportation companies as one of the effective factors in increasing the time pressure on drivers and stated: In such a situation, drivers may turn to accelerated driving to make up for the lost time; An issue that can increase the risk of accidents.

Vice President of Social Affairs and Crime Prevention of Justice of the Central Province continued: Considering the traffic of passenger buses in the communication axes of the province, especially freeways, the review of this proposal and the requirement of companies based in the origin of Arak to use surveillance equipment can play an effective role in strengthening the control of drivers' behavior and increasing the demands of passengers.

He emphasized: Simultaneously pursuing the correction of accident-prone points, fixing the technical defects of the roads, and improving the supervision of the public transport fleet are among the requirements to reduce accidents, and the necessity of the responsibility of executive bodies in the implementation of safety approvals is emphasized.
