Who was the hell in the movie Street Fighter like Kami?

In a movie as big as the new Street Fighter adaptation, getting too into the weed of video game "compatibility" might seem like a silly thing to do, but there's one thing about the movie that I and other fans of Capcom's fighting game series have a hard time getting past: what the hell did they do with Kami?
For those who don't know, Kami's place in the Street Fighter universe is as a tool turned hero. She is one of the villains of the series "The Dolls", a group of young women who are brainwashed by the Shadalo organization. Kami has been a mainstay of the series since Super Street Fighter II, and has spent many of those games battling Bison and trying to regain his independence. However, she was once Beeston's servant, and that is the role she plays in Street Fighter. This is not the part Street Fighter fans are dealing with. It's that the stoic common soldier has become a corrupt, flirtatious, Harley Quinn-esque figure that feels like a different character.
Cami is portrayed by Mel Jarnson, who fans of the war game movies may recognize from her cameo as Nitara in the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie. This version of Cammy is portrayed as M. Bison's right-hand man, and is one of the only characters not portrayed as sniveling. She's no-nonsense and commands the room all the time as she follows Bison's orders, but she's strangely seductive (she flirts with Chun-Li at one point), prone to outbursts, and feels like she's playing the sadistic character that could have been played by To act in another movie. Juri didn't make sense in this particular role, as she and Beason are the furthest thing from allies, but it definitely feels like the filmmakers wanted Juri in the mix and couldn't fit her in, so they just grafted her essence onto Cami.
"Was Cami the actress trying to audition for Sindel?" writes a fan on Reddit. "What was that random angry yell when he was sitting with Beeston?"
"And he acts nothing like his video game counterpart," replies another. "I think the writers really, really, really wanted to have Joori Han in this movie. But they couldn't because it's Street Fighter 2 (she was introduced in 4 IIRC) and she also hates Bison, so it wouldn't make much sense to work with her. So they made the worst possible choice and created a weird illusion. Giggling and walking like Harley to Chun Lee. What the hell is even cooler than Chun Lee."

While the movie doesn't really go into it, Jameson said in a recent interview that this version of Cammy is actually mind-controlled like the rest of the dolls. So while he may act like a completely different person in this movie, it's possible that in a future sequel, Bison's hold on him will be broken and his weird side will disappear in favor of the more die-hard soldier fans know him to be, but for now, this Trevor Cammy character is one of the most unfortunate parts of Street Fighter. The film takes almost nothing too seriously, and admittedly plays a little fast and loose with the other characters, but this is definitely the most drastic change the film makes when it comes to characters.
