The Valencia-based distributor is working with US producer Lincoln Hyatt on the English and Spanish versions of the word game format.

Valencia-based Good Formats is presenting two American pilots of European classic "El Rosco" at Mipcom, targeting North American buyers for the first time.

Produced in Los Angeles, "Run the Ring" is a half-hour English-language version, while "El Rosco" runs for an hour in Spanish. Both feature Spanish TV host Cristian Gallows, who has hosted more than 3,500 episodes of the game. According to Good Formats, the game was first introduced on Italy's Canale 5 in 1999. The format has never aired in North America, said showrunner Andrea Olsse. Popular in Variety

Olcese has collaborated with American producer Lincoln Hiatt to develop these two versions, which differ in terms of language and running time.

"All the essential elements and punches of our template apply to both demos," Hiatt told Variety. "Both have returning heroes who have the potential to become popular heroes like Ken Jennings."

Jennings won a record 74 consecutive games in "Danger"! In 2004, he became the host of the program.

According to Behiyat, both pilots include returning champions competing against rivals and a progressive jackpot. Their different lengths are intended to provide broadcasters with alternative timing options.

"The half-hour can be back-to-back in prime time with full continuity because of the way Champions and Jackpot work," he said.

Hiatt said the development process involves creating preliminary games leading up to the final word game challenge.

"What Andrea brought me was this great gift that we call the final ring," he said. "The front half of the show had to be built."

Galvez participated in development alongside format expert Axel Fiaco, Jeff Kimiotek, and consulting producer Aaron Solomon.

Mipcom's presentation follows a May ruling by Spain's Supreme Court over game intellectual property rights.

"CV has created and owns all original rights since 1999, producing and distributing MC&F broadcast and broadcast from the Netherlands," Olsse said. Since 2012, Good Formats S.L. has been the official distributor in Valencia.

"Mediaset now has exclusive rights for Spain and Italy due to long-standing relationships, but is not involved in international distribution," he added.

Beyond North America, Good Formats is exploring partnerships in other markets, particularly Asia, where it is working with Dubai-based MediaLeisure.

We are ambitious, Olsse said, about reaching a global audience, but understand the considerable effort that is required.

The company says it generally prefers direct licensing to broadcasters and platforms, while being open to deals with regional production companies.
