The Paris 2026 exhibition has become the scene of the return of the memorable names of the automobile industry. Citroën with the unveiling of the 2CV concept, Renault with the redesign of the 8 Gordini, Fiat with the revival of the Multipla and Peugeot with the introduction of the RCZ and E-T16 concepts have gone to their historical heritage. Now it's Alpine's turn to bring one of the most important sports cars of its history to life in a modern format by unveiling the A310 Vision concept.
Unlike the Citroen 2CV, which is supposed to be an electric and economical car, the Alpine A310 Vision follows a completely different path. This concept is a wide, low and aggressive sports coupe that can become a competitor to Porsche 911 in terms of body proportions. As expected, this car is a modern take on the Alpine A310; The model that was born in 1971 to be a more comfortable and suitable option for long-term use next to the smaller A110 and more focused on sports driving.
The unveiling of the Alpine A310 Vision concept this year is not without reason; Because fifty-five years have passed since the introduction of the first generation A310, and fifty years have passed since the release of its six-cylinder V6 version. In this concept, Alpine has tried to combine the design features of both models with a modern language.
The most important appearance feature of the A310 Vision concept is its body proportions. The length of this car is 4.55 meters, its width is 2.03 meters and its height is only 1.18 meters. The wheelbase is 2.45 meters. These dimensions have created a wide and low body that evokes a model like Porsche 911.
As we mentioned, Alpine drew inspiration from both historical versions of the A310 in the design of this concept. The simpler and cleaner lines of the body are adapted from the original four-cylinder model; While the wide fenders and muscular appearance are modeled on the V6 version. The result is not an exact recreation of either of the two older models, but rather a futuristic interpretation of the question of what the Alpine A310 would look like if it were designed today.
A closer look at the fuselage of the A310 Vision reveals more interesting details. The headlights have a hidden design and reveal themselves when the car is turned on. On the hood, an S-shaped channel can be seen, which refers to the advanced aerodynamics of racing cars. A central blade also directs the gaze towards the rear and helps the coherence of the body design. At the rear, the two-piece fin with transparent elements doubles the appeal of the new Alpine concept. The rear lights are not decorative like blades and play an aerodynamic role in air flow management. This combination shows that Alpine tried to link the details of appearance with technical performance.
Although the Alpine A310 Vision Concept is primarily a design project for the exterior, the interior has also been considered, offering clues to the company's future approach. Among the features of this section, we can mention chairs with organic shape and bold color combination. This concept uses physical controls inspired by high-end audio equipment; However, the official images released do not clearly show the details of these controls. Of course, the combination of physical controls and digital technology can simplify the use of some features; Especially when the driver has to keep his attention on the road.
The A310 Vision concept has been developed based on the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP for short). This architecture is designed to support the next generation of the company's sports cars and will be used in future models, including the next generation A110. One of the main goals of this platform is to provide designers with more freedom in choosing body proportions and how to place car components.
Alpine has not yet released any official information about the technical specifications of the A310 Vision engine. Therefore, at the moment, there is no news about the figures related to the power, torque, acceleration or range of motion of this concept, and its possible performance cannot be compared with the Porsche 911 or other sports coupes.
The Alpine A310 Vision concept is currently considered an independent design study and the French do not consider it a preview of a production model. Therefore, this car will not go to the production lines despite all the charms. This concept was created to show off the power of Alpine engineers and designers and provide the ground for the emergence of a new visual identity of the brand.
The Alpine A310 Vision shows that Renault's sports car subsidiary wants to combine its sports car heritage with new design language and technologies. The low and wide aluminum body, inspired by two historical generations of A310, special lights, aerodynamic details and relying on the advanced APP platform, make this concept an attractive take on Alpine's vision of the future.
A production version of such a car could be a different alternative to the well-known German sports coupes and expand the Alpine identity beyond the A110. However, Alpine has stated that it has no plans to mass produce the A310 Vision concept. As a result, this concept will remain only as an attractive idea.
In an era when electric cars with strange designs face a lot of criticism, the Alpine A310 Vision concept proves that electric sports models can have a distinctive design in addition to technology and rely on the personality characteristics of their ancestors. Perhaps the many positive feedbacks that this concept has received will change the opinion of Alpine managers regarding the release of its mass production version.
