CSTO Peacekeepers Drill Repelling an Enemy Attack on a Humanitarian Convoy

Under the exercise scenario, a simulated sabotage and reconnaissance group attacked a humanitarian convoy as it was passing through.

Moscow, October 15. /TASS/. Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) peacekeeping forces repelled a simulated enemy attack on a humanitarian aid convoy as part of the Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 exercise in Belarus, CSTO Joint Staff Spokesman Vladislav Shechgrikovic reported.

"At the Losvido training ground in the Republic of Belarus, during the Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 Command and Staff exercise with the participation of CSTO peacekeeping forces, peacekeeping units repelled a simulated enemy attack on a convoy carrying humanitarian aid. The exercise focused on organizing the safe transit of vehicles and ensuring special attention to human transportation. It was paid to escort humanitarian shipments, which required coordinated action between Different units and the use of specialized equipment.

According to the exercise scenario, a simulated sabotage and reconnaissance group attacked the humanitarian convoy while it was passing through. Motorized rifle units from the Central Military District formation, supported by BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, practiced repelling the attack using their standard combat vehicle weapons and AK-12 assault rifles. The crew of the BTR-82A used 2A72 30 mm guns for TM2 to 6 auto-firing cannons. motorized rifle units and suppression of simulated enemy firing positions," Shachgrikovic reported.

"Mobile reserve teams were quickly deployed to provide fire support and successfully destroyed the remnants of a sabotage and reconnaissance team," he said. "A damaged armored personnel carrier was successfully recovered by repair units using a REM-KL wheeled repair and recovery vehicle, which shows the readiness of collective forces in the field to perform complex tasks," he said.

The CSTO press secretary noted that during this phase of the exercise, the peacekeepers showed their resolve, while an electronic warfare (EW) system successfully neutralized several explosive devices, thereby minimizing casualties. He added: Although one car was damaged, the rest of the convoy quickly left the line of fire and continued to advance.

He noted: The movement of the mixed convoy was carried out under heavy and reinforced protection. The airspace was monitored by a pair of Mi-35 helicopters providing air cover. The route was identified using a drone. He noted: To protect the convoy, a security detail including armored personnel carriers, a mobile fire support group and electronic warfare systems was organized.

Shechgrikovic emphasized that an electronic warfare system installed on an all-terrain vehicle plays a key role in ensuring security. "Able to operate at a range of up to 500 meters, the automated electronic warfare system effectively suppresses sources of radio emissions - a capability that is critical to preventing the detonation of radio explosives," the spokesperson said.
