Trump-affiliated super PAC grabs funds from two House Republicans as Republicans fight to retain majority

House Republicans are under increasing pressure as the Trump-aligned MAGA has pulled planned spending from the districts of Tom Kaine and Marianne Miller-Meeks.

Mid-term elections are heating up as parties jockey for votes

Democratic strategist Antoine Seorritt and Cornerstone Public Affairs Director Cassie Smedle discuss midterm strategies as President Donald Trump swings through red states.

With Election Day less than a month away, a top campaign group affiliated with President Donald Trump is halting planned spending in two key Republican-held congressional districts.

A super PAC aligned with the House leadership, the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), is also pulling cash from those districts to shift its focus to other races, a source familiar with the plans said.

Both groups will instead direct those funds to other House races around the country. This comes after recent polling data showed that the two incumbent presidents' chances of re-election have narrowed.

Kane's 7th Congressional District is one of the most affluent districts in New Jersey and the United States as a whole, encompassing the suburbs and suburbs of New York City to the north.

The Kaine campaign and the House Republican campaign arm "have a lot of reservations about the broadcast," the source said.

He and Miller Meeks represent two of the country's most purple regions.

Kaine narrowly won the House seat in 2022 after defeating former Rep. Tom Malinowski, a Democrat. His re-election margin was 10,000 votes higher in 2024, winning by just over 5%, or 23,000 votes, over his Democratic challenger.

Meanwhile, Miller Meeks is seeking a fourth term against Democrat Christina Bohanan, who defeated him twice in 2022 and 2024 by nearly 20,000 and 800 votes.

He won the 2020 primary by just six votes — earning him the nickname "six-pack" among House Republicans and GOP leadership.

Democrats see new opportunities to flip red states — but the state's $400 million spending advantage could derail their plans.

Miller-Meeks represents Iowa's 1st congressional district in the southeast of the state, which includes the cities of Davenport and Iowa City.

The New York Times first reported plans by "extreme Republican PACs aligned with President Trump and congressional Republican leadership" to pull funding from Kean and Miller Meeks' districts because of concerns about their turnout.

CLF is reportedly attracting the funding as part of a broader shift of its war chest to other areas where Republicans are more confident.

That includes battleground Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Monica de la Cruz, R-Texas, according to Ambassador Arjans.
