A man confessed to dismembering his ex-girlfriend and keeping her severed head in a suitcase after she toyed with him "like a fool."

A New York man confessed to second-degree murder, admitting he killed his ex-girlfriend, dismembered her, and kept her severed head in a suitcase.

A New York man confessed to murdering and dismembering his ex-girlfriend and putting her severed head in a suitcase with a flower after their relationship ended, later telling investigators he "played me like a sucker," authorities said.

Damon Foy, 50, of Crehonxon, pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder in the 2024 slaying of Alberta Dale, 44, of Pennsylvania, according to the Ulster District Attorney's Office.

Between March 31 and April 1, 2024, Foy killed and dismembered Dale and was disposing of her body when law enforcement intervened, according to the district attorney's office.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation on April 1, 2024, after members of Dale's family in Pennsylvania contacted law enforcement because they were concerned about his well-being, the district attorney's office said. Deputies first conducted a welfare check before beginning a missing persons investigation.

According to the New York Post, deputies first went to Foy's apartment on April 1, 2024, and found Dale's car. The next day, after a bystander found Dale's phone on the side of the road and turned it over to authorities, deputies returned to question Foy, leading investigators to suspect possible foul play.

"He's in there," Foy whispered to investigators when they arrived at his home during the missing person's investigation. "I killed him," he added, according to court documents cited by the New York Post.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Foy's home and found a suitcase in a closet that contained the victim's remains. Foy was later arrested and charged in connection with Dale's death.

After shining a flashlight on the suitcase, investigators immediately noticed what appeared to be dried blood, according to the documents.

"Officers opened the defendant's suitcase and found the partially dismembered remains of Alberta Dale, including her severed head," according to the New York Post .

"The remaining parts of her dismembered body were not found during the execution of the search warrant," the documents added.

When interviewed later, Foy told investigators he "loved her," according to the documents.

"All he did after a while in the whole relationship was just play me, play me like a fool, play me like a sucker and just use the whole f-king system," she says.

"That's it. I was told to get out of my house. I was told to leave my f--king house, not a bill in his name, and I was told to leave my f--king house. Get out. Then things became clearer," he added.

When asked about the flower in the suitcase, Foy said only that he was thinking about "something that still happened last night - from above."

According to court documents cited by the New York Post, Foy had a history of domestic violence against Dale.

A previous domestic incident involved a gun, and investigators also found an ax at Foy's property when they searched Dale.

According to court documents, Dale previously warned authorities that "if she disappeared it would be because [Foy] killed her."

According to a plea deal, Foy is expected to serve 23 years behind bars, with the minimum term two years short of the maximum of 25 years to life, the Daily Freeman reported.

Assistant District Attorney Liz Colemon-Mills told the newspaper that the deal was supported by the Dale family.

"If it wasn't for the Alberta Dale family, the district attorney's office would not have made this recommendation," Colemon Mills told the publication.

Foy is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16.

"Complete, selfish disregard for the life and dignity of another person is at the heart of domestic violence. Emmanuel C. "Damon Foy has shown us this," District Attorney Nenji said in a statement. "Our laws protect the rights of victims of domestic violence to be physically, mentally and emotionally safe from abusers and the dangers that are specifically aimed at them, and require procedures that actually protect victims, not just on paper."
