According to the report of Ambassador Arjan Ali Abbasi, he said: From the beginning of June to the end of September this year, 33 people died due to drowning on the coasts of the province, 29 of them were men and four were women.

He added: Statistics show that 72% of the dead were non-natives. An issue that doubles the need for passengers to pay more attention to safety warnings and to know the areas allowed for swimming.

Referring to the distribution of drowning cases in the coastal cities of the province, Mazandaran Chief Medical Examiner said: Nowshahr with eight cases, Babolsar with seven cases and Ramsar with six cases have the highest number of deaths due to drowning during this period.

According to Abbasi, no deaths due to drowning have been reported in Sari, Joibar, Neka and Chalus cities during the mentioned period.

He added: A chronological review of the statistics indicates that July had the largest share among the months of the implementation of the Sea Plan, with 16 drowning cases. On the other hand, June recorded the lowest number of deaths with two cases.

Referring to the age groups of the victims, Abbasi clarified: the most cases of drowning were related to people aged 11 to 20 with 15 people; While children under 10 years of age have the least number of deaths with two cases.

Emphasizing that a number of victims had chosen areas outside the secured areas for swimming despite safety warnings and recommendations, he considered compliance with safety regulations and avoiding swimming in prohibited areas without lifeguards as one of the most important ways to prevent these accidents.

Mazandaran Chief Medical Examiner also pointed to the role of cooperation between the executive, rescue and media agencies in reducing the number of drownings, the governor's accompaniment and the follow-ups of the governor's political, security and social deputy in organizing the beaches as effective factors in the coordination of the responsible agencies.

He added: holding coordination meetings, continuous monitoring of the condition of the beaches, strengthening the readiness of rescue forces and providing information about high-risk areas and prohibited areas have played a role in increasing public awareness and drawing the attention of travelers to safety warnings.

Emphasizing that the protection of the lives of citizens and travelers should be the main priority of the responsible institutions, Abbasi noted: As a specialized authority for recording and investigating deaths caused by drowning, Abbasi continuously monitors the statistics of this area, and the decrease recorded this summer reminds the necessity of continuing preventive measures and strengthening the integrated management of beaches.
