Pezeshkian: Economic and Social Conditions Have a Decisive Impact on Public Health
Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasizing the role of economic and social factors in societal health, called for leveraging the capacity of mosques and public participation to identify and eliminate deprivation and address the problems of vulnerable groups.
Ambassador Arjan-Political Group: Referring to the necessity of paying attention to social factors affecting health, the President stated: the issue of health is not limited to the field of health and treatment. Various factors affect the health of people in the society and the economic, social and living environment of the people play a decisive role in this field.
Today evening, Monday, October 20, 1405, in the national event "Healthy, People-Oriented and Mosque-Oriented Society", by honoring the memory of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, especially the martyred leader, commanders, scientists, students and all those who sacrificed their lives for the honor and pride of Iran, he emphasized the necessity of serving the people honestly, solving the problems of the society, and using the capacities of the people and mosques to identify and remove deprivations.
Stating that we have all believed that our way, religion and beliefs are better than the way and belief offered by others, the president added: "If we really have such a belief, it means that we should be the best in practice." If we are going to be the best, we must be able to perform the best in serving the people and solving their problems and find solutions for the problems of the society.
The doctor clarified: We cannot claim that our way and belief is superior, but in practice we cannot reach a position where we can serve the people. In order to be able to fulfill such a responsibility, we have been trying since we were students; We have studied, worked hard and spent many sleepless nights to reach this stage.
The president continued: "We have been at the service of the people wherever necessary along this path; Whether in the field of labor, whether in the front, whether in the field of treating patients or in any other field where our presence and service was necessary. All of you and we have tried to be honest with people along this path.
The current situation of the country has put a heavier responsibility on us
Referring to the current sensitive situation of the country, the doctors said: Today we are facing a dangerous turn. The war we are facing now is not just a war that can be solved by throwing missiles and military actions. In addition to this military confrontation, we are also facing an economic situation that they have created for our country and people, and this situation makes our responsibility to solve people's problems heavier.
The president emphasized: We consider ourselves obliged to solve people's problems. We cannot claim to be of service, but in practice we are unable to solve their problems. If we cannot find solutions for people's problems and take steps to solve them, we are responsible and guilty; In such a situation, we will not be able to answer before God, nor will we have a worthy answer for the martyrs.
Referring to his motivation for choosing the medical profession, the doctor noted: Basically, choosing medicine for me was to be able to serve the people. My goal was not just to become a doctor; The goal was to serve the people and for the people to see that those who believe in Islam and Muslims are serving, honest, honest and healthy people; They do not steal, they are not criminals, and instead of thinking about their personal interests, they think about people.
The president added: This was the belief that we had; That people should observe in practice that people who talk about religion and faith are honest in their behavior and performance, are honest and put the interests of the society before their personal interests.
Honesty is tested in practice and in facing people's problems
Referring to the verses of the Holy Quran about the testing of people's faith, the doctors said: God reminds us in the Quran that simply claiming faith is not enough and people are tested in the field of action to determine the sincerity and truth of their beliefs. Today is also our test field; We must show what we have said about religion, belief, service and responsibility, to what extent we adhere to it in practice.
Emphasizing that the current situation is in some ways more complicated and difficult than the past wars, the president stated: Today we are facing a more difficult and complicated test. The first field of this war is confronting our egos. We should be able to overcome selfishness, self-centeredness and personal desires and accept our real responsibility towards people.
The doctors added: The next step is that with the amount of knowledge, knowledge and experience we have, how can we witness the existence of problems among people and not take action to solve them? Is it acceptable to have knowledge and experience, to be in a position of responsibility, but people's problems still persist?
Community health is not only limited to health and medical services
Pointing to the need to pay attention to social factors affecting health, the President stated: The issue of health is not limited to the field of healthcare. As our dear brother, Mr. Harirchi, also pointed out, various factors affect the health of people in society, and the economic, social and living environment of people play a decisive role in this regard.
Doctors clarified: A person who is poor is at risk; Someone who lives on the margins of society is vulnerable; The elderly, heads of households and orphans also face risks and problems that must be taken into account.
The president continued: These people are at risk from the point of view of medicine and physical and mental health, and we have a duty to take care of them. But our responsibility is not limited to this aspect. These groups may be harmed religiously, socially and even politically, and we are obliged to see these facts, understand their conditions and take effective action to solve their problems.
Emphasizing that the treatment of vulnerable groups should be done with a comprehensive view, the doctors added: If we want to have a healthy society, we cannot be satisfied with providing medical services and ignore the living conditions of people, poverty, marginalization, old age, the condition of vulnerable families and other factors affecting health.
