All Resources Mobilized to Contain Flooding in Izeh

Ahvaz – Khuzestan Governor stressed the need to implement watershed management and flood channel management plans to prevent floodwaters from reaching the city of Izeh, and announced the need to mobilize forces and equip resources to store water.

Ahvaz - The governor of Khuzestan stressed the necessity of implementing watershed management plans and managing channels to prevent floods from entering Izeh city and announced the need to mobilize forces and equip facilities for water storage.

According to Mehr reporter, Seyyed Mohammad Reza Mowalizadeh, on the sidelines of his visit to Izeh's flood dams and surface water disposal channels, said this Thursday evening: "In order to take the necessary measures to prevent heavy floods in Izeh, one of the issues is the entry of water through the valleys around the city, and due to the constructions done, we now have four valleys that direct water directly towards the city."

He added: The first thing that should be done is to follow the watershed issue so that by creating holes, the amount of water entering the city will be reduced and its intensity, speed and volume will be reduced.

He explained: In this field, a contract has been signed with a consultant and natural resources have also been put to work. But the current facilities are not enough and those involved must mobilize their equipment to create a significant number of required holes.

The governor of Khuzestan stated: The ultimate goal is to prevent water from entering the city as much as possible and to be able to prevent heavy flooding in Izeh by properly managing the channels and implementing watershed management plans.
