Messi Picks: 10 Future Football Stars Worldwide
Lionel Messi named 10 footballers he believes will form the next generation of world football.
According to "Sports Three", the Argentine superstar participated in the third edition of the "Messi 10" campaign, which is an Adidas initiative to bring together ten young talents from the men's and women's football divisions.
This list features familiar names as well as unexpected choices. Arsenal's Max Dauman and Chelsea's Chloë Sarvi are among the ten selected. At the age of 16, Max Dauman is one of the most promising players of Arsenal's academy and has been in the first team so far. 17-year-old Chloe Saroi from Chelsea, who has experience playing in the first team, is another representative on this list.
An interesting point for Argentine football is the presence of Tomas Aranda from Boca Juniors. He is the only compatriot of Messi in this list of ten people. This 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been more consistent this season and has played in 14 matches for his team so far. Aranda has recently had a close relationship with the Argentine national team, which has made his name even more interesting.
Messi's shortlist includes Crystal Palace's Xavier Gotzo, Boca Juniors' Tomas Aranda, Tijuana's Gilberto Mora, who is one of Mexico's recent football phenoms, and Eintracht Frankfurt's forward John Ozon. The list is completed by Alkmaar's Case Smith, Como's Jesus Rodriguez, Hamburg's Lotta Verde and Lyon's Giovanna Waxman. These selections are a combination of European and American football talent.
Messi had already chosen another jewel of the English league. This is not the first time that a selection by Messi has attracted attention in this campaign. In the previous term, Rio Ngumoha, one of Liverpool's most promising talents, appeared alongside the likes of Andre Santos and Kendari Paez.
Adidas introduced this third generation with the slogan "The next season starts here" and Messi is present as the main face of the campaign. This is more of a promotional selection of emerging talent than an official ranking, but the Argentinian's presence will quickly put any name under the spotlight.
