Fazel Lankarani's request to the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan to continue protesting about hijab/women's rights has also deviated from its true meaning

While appreciating the protests of the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan against the hijab ban, Fazel Lankarani said: I thank the dear people of Azerbaijan who have demonstrated and protested in recent days and I want them to continue these protests.

According to Ambassador Arjan Mohammad Javad Fazel Lankarani, at the beginning of his foreign jurisprudence course, referring to the news published about the prohibition of hijab in educational centers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the issue of "Either education or hijab", he considered this action to be contrary to the Islamic and Shia identity of the majority of the people of this country and expressed his regret for it.

According to Rasa's narration, he said: It is very painful that a government claiming to be a Muslim, in a country where the majority of its people are Muslims and Shiites, takes an action that is compatible with the spirit of disbelief.

Referring to the history of confronting the hijab in some European countries, the head of the Jurisprudence Center of Athar Imams stated: This issue is an order that Zionism and the world of infidelity have been following for years and decades in European countries and sometimes in countries around Azerbaijan to weaken Islam. Because they have realized that the hijab is one of the manifestations of the propagation of Islam.

Explaining the religious position of the hijab, he added: The hijab, as stated in the martyr's leadership, is a bond between a woman and God, a covenant with God and a preaching for God, divine orders and Islam.

The professor of foreign jurisprudence and principles of Qom seminary emphasized: "Today, anyone who opposes the hijab at any point, has actually opposed God, the explicit command of the Holy Quran and Islam."

Fazel Lankarani warned about the consequences of confronting Islamic rules and stated: If the government of Azerbaijan really wants to oppose Islam, the people will know their duty and the scholars and elders will also determine the duty of the people.

Rejecting any conflict between hijab and education, he said to the officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan: "Who said that hijab is an obstacle to education?" Why don't you look into this properly? Why have you left your affairs in the hands of disbelief? Do you have to accept whatever they say?"

The professor of foreign jurisprudence at Qom Seminary further warned: "We warn the government of Azerbaijan to take a lesson from the fate of those who ruled during the Taghut period, and confronting religion led to their destruction."

He added: The government of Azerbaijan should know that confronting religion, without any doubt, will have no result other than their own destruction.

Hijab does not hinder women's scientific and political progress

The member of Qom seminary teachers' society, in rejecting the claim of hijab's conflict with women's education and progress, stated: Hijab is not only an obstacle to women's academic growth, but also protects them from dangers and provides immunity on the path of academic growth. Hijab is not only an obstacle to the presence of women, but it is the foundation and support for their presence in various fields, including politics.

Referring to the experience of the presence of women in the scientific and political fields after the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the head of the Jurisprudential Center of Imams Athar (AS) added: In our Islamic Revolution, this issue was well proven. One of the bright spots of the revolution was that a woman could achieve the highest academic degrees and assume high political positions by observing the hijab. Women are qualified to hold many important positions.

A request to the people of Azerbaijan to continue the protests

In another part of his speech, while appreciating the protests of the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the ban on the hijab, Fazel Lankarani said: I thank the dear people of Azerbaijan who have demonstrated and protested in recent days and I ask them to continue these protests.

Emphasizing that these protests are the defense of a divine decree, he added: This action is not only the defense of their personal interests, but also the defense of God's decree and let them know that God will help them.

Criticizing the contradiction between the slogan of freedom and banning the hijab, this Qom seminary professor said: If it is about freedom, why shouldn't a Muslim girl who wants to wear a chador and hijab be free? Should only debauchery be free to do whatever they want?

He added: "Unfortunately, today, freedom has acquired a different meaning and women's rights have also moved away from their true meaning."

At the end of his speech, Fazel Lankarani emphasized the support of the Iranian nation with the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan and stated: We strongly condemn this issue and the Iranian nation is also with the people of Azerbaijan.

He demanded the reaction of the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran to this action and said: We hope that the officials of the Iranian government will also warn, deal with and condemn this action to the best of their ability.

In the end, Fazel Lankarani emphasized the need to observe religious freedom and avoid imposing veiling on Muslim women and stated: We hope this issue will be resolved as soon as possible and religious freedom will be realized in the literal sense, God willing.
