The process of scrapping used cars in the country has increased after the amendment of the executive regulations of Article 10 of the Law on Organizing the Automobile Industry.

According to Ambassador Arjan, Mohammad Sadegh Hatami, director of the transportation fleet renewal and scrapping of used cars, says that from the beginning of this year to October 22, nearly 85 thousand used cars have been scrapped, and it is planned to scrap up to 250 thousand units this year and 500 thousand units next year according to the 7th progress plan.

The root of the past failures in this area was attributed to the contradiction of the 1402 approved executive regulation with the main law and it is said that while the law had predicted the scrapping of one device for every four cars produced, the approved regulation had changed it to 1 to 12.

Hatami says, with the amendment of Article 10 of the regulations and its notification in August 1405, which came into effect on 12 September, the legal ratio of "one to four" was restored.

Following this action, the performance record of the last 20 months was broken in September with the scrapping of about 28,000 machines. Also, from the total of 2,720,000 vehicles scrapped since 2005, about 700,000 vehicles are equivalent to 25% of the total statistics for the period starting from 1401 onwards.
