The first trailer of The Body series was released; A psychological horror drama series that follows the story of a group of girls in a Catholic school.
The story of The Body revolves around a group of teenage girls who attend a Catholic school. When the commencement ceremony of one of the school's dance groups does not go according to plan, an unusual event occurs that changes the girls' lives. After this incident, they begin to experience dreams that seem to foretell future events. These experiences gradually lead to widespread confusion and panic in the local community.
This series combines elements of teenage drama, religious horror, dark comedy and psychological suspense. In addition to the supernatural consequences of the events, the story also deals with the relationships between girls, religious pressures, identity formation and the complications of adolescence.
Kevin Shepherd, the writer and director of works such as Under the Bridge, is the creator of The Body series and also works as a showrunner. He directed the first episode and a number of other episodes of the series. Sheppard has previously said that the story was inspired by his personal experiences as a teenager and deals with themes such as repression, identity confusion, feelings of shame and the relationship people have with their beliefs.
Shepard also cited movies like Carrie, Jennifer's Body, Heavenly Creatures, and Mean Girls as sources of inspiration for the series. However, The Body is supposed to present these influences in the form of a story with more realistic characterization and a mixture of horror and humor. Among the actors of the series, we can mention Christina Borghi, Sarah Boustani, Gina Mazzaros, Sophia Wiley, Shirley Chen, Namdi Asumuga and Louisa Kraus. Former The Traitors contestant Gabby Windy also serves as the band's coach.
The production of this collection has been done in collaboration with North Road and Felix Culpa companies. Under the Bridge star Riley Keough is executive producing the project alongside Gina Gammell and Sacha Ben Haroche. The first season of The Body will consist of eight episodes and all episodes will be available on Netflix. Relying on prophetic dreams, religious tensions and complex relationships of teenagers, this series tries to narrate a story in which the border between transcendental experiences, collective fear and the turmoil of puberty gradually fades.
The Body series will be broadcast on Netflix on November 11, 2026 (November 20, 1405).
