Lukashenko: Readiness for War Is a Way to Prevent It
Belarus's president said the purpose of the country's military exercises is to prevent war from breaking out.
The president of the Republic of Belarus announced the purpose of the country's military exercises to prevent the outbreak of war.
According to the report of Ambassador Arjan, quoted by Rashatoudi, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during his visit to the Oboz-Lesnovsky military training ground in Brest province, emphasized the need for the armed forces of this country to be ready to deal with possible threats.
He said: "Belarus does not intend to attack anyone, but it is preparing for it to prevent war."
Referring to the increase in the military expenses of Belarus' neighboring countries, Lukashenko said that these countries spend billions of dollars on arming their armies, and in addition to holding exercises near the borders, they deploy new military units and organizations in the border areas.
The President of Belarus emphasized that his country should be prepared for a proportionate response to possible developments, and one of the main requirements of this preparation is that the armed forces have reliable communication and command systems.
He said: "We do not intend to attack anyone. We are realistic and we know that starting a war with one of our neighbors could mean suicide for us. So why should we start a war?"
Lukashenko further clarified that holding military exercises does not mean planning to attack neighboring countries, but the purpose of these actions is to prepare to deal with possible threats and protect the country's security.
