Trump on Ousted Ambassador to Greece: "We Are Not Happy"

US President Donald Trump says he is seeking to remove Kimberly Guilfoyle as US ambassador to Greece over misconduct allegations.

Trump is not happy with Kimberly Guilfoyle and is looking to fire her as ambassador

US President Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that he was considering whether to fire the US ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was once engaged to his son, and insisted that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire.

President Donald Trump is seeking to fire Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece, after reports of inappropriate behavior before and during her tenure in Athens.

"Well, we're looking into it," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday afternoon before leaving for a campaign rally in Ohio. "Yeah, we're not happy."

Trump's comments came after a senior US official said Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were "extremely incensed" by reports of Guilfoyle's behavior and were expected to make a decision on his future this week.

Trump and Rubio blame Kimberly Guilfoyle's firing on misconduct and donor funding allegations

The Wall Street Journal reported a series of allegations involving Guilfoyle, including that he asked a Trump donor to pay a $100,000 credit card bill before his confirmation hearing while allegedly promising access to government officials. The Journal also reported that Guilfoyle made threats against the Greek government, promoted the interests of a Greek construction and energy company, allowed a lobbyist to attend private diplomatic meetings and accepted improper gifts or favors.

Rubio, who was in Greece last week, was frustrated by reporters who repeatedly asked him to address the allegations publicly.

"You guys think that because a source told you something and you reported it, that's gospel," Rubio told reporters at the foot of his plane on Thursday.

"That's not the gospel. That's not the gospel for me. That's not the way we do things."

A day earlier, Rubio said he would not discuss the allegations while visiting a foreign country, but defended the embassy's work.

In a joint press conference with the Greek Foreign Minister, Rubio said: Suffice it to say, our embassy is doing a great job here. "Our ambassador here has been a strong ambassador."

"Of course, I don't like anybody selling access to another government official, certainly a high-ranking government official," Vance told reporters. "I'm assuming you're talking about a specific case, and I can't say for sure that the case you're talking about actually reflects this method. You're describing it."

House Democrats plan to investigate Trump if they win the majority

Through his lawyers, Guilfoyle has denied wrongdoing. In a statement released late Sunday, attorneys David Schwartz and Jesse Binall said the money he sought from a Trump donor was payment for public appearances and speaking engagements that took place before his candidacy.

"Ambassador Guilfoyle has served and will continue to serve with integrity, honor and distinction," the attorneys said. "We are evaluating all available legal remedies to collect this debt and other possible causes of action."

Attorneys also denied Guilfoyle's private jet travel was improper, saying he "followed, received and complied with State Department instructions and complied with the Department's travel regulations."
