A fine of 79,000 cars with xenon lights

The head of the Greater Tehran Traffic Police announced the fine of more than 79,000 violations related to defective lights and the use of dazzling lights in the capital since the beginning of 1405.

Colonel Ali Asghar Sharifi said that more than 50 percent of accidents leading to death occur at night, and the issue of light and dazzling lights is one of the main reasons for accidents.

He added: Anything that is installed on the vehicle outside of the standard is considered a violation and is considered a penalty (fine) in the law.

Referring to the table of traffic offenses, a section of which is specifically dedicated to lights, Sharifi stated: effective technical defect or defect in the lighting system at night, in addition to a fine of 300 thousand tomans, also carries a negative score; So that 3 negative points are considered for a private vehicle and 6 negative points for a heavy or public vehicle.

The head of the Greater Tehran Traffic Police Information Center added: Using spotlights or lights with dazzling light (alvan lights) and having a white light at the back and a red light at the front of the vehicle carries a fine of 150,000 tomans. If a car is tampered with and red lights are placed in front, it is a violation, and the rear lights must be covered with red and the front lights must be white or yellow.

Sharifi further pointed out other violations related to the lighting system and said: not turning on the lights from sunset to sunrise and when necessary for any reason, 120 thousand tomans; Absence or defect of front, rear, brake or guide lights or changing the color of the lights, 90 thousand Tomans; Driving with high beam when low beam should be used, 90 thousand tomans; Failure to use or wrong use of hand signals or traffic lights when necessary, 60 thousand Tomans; Covering all or part of the front or rear lights, which causes a reduction, change or intensity of light, is fined 100 thousand tomans and turning off the lights inside a public vehicle is fined 60 thousand tomans.

Regarding the reasons for canceling the technical examination, he also clarified: the issue of vehicle lights is very important and it is mentioned in the table of crimes; In addition, drivers whose vehicle has a technical inspection, if the vehicle's lights are defective or have problems and also have xenon lights, their technical inspection will be invalidated on the spot. Defects in the lighting system and the use of xenon lights are one of the main reasons for canceling the technical examination.

Sharifi warned about the consequences of using dazzling light and noted: The use of dazzling light causes the reaction of other car drivers and pedestrians to be greatly reduced in times of danger, and defects in the car's lighting system are a serious threat to traffic safety.

He enumerated the examples of defects in the car lighting system and said: the use of xenon lamps, non-standard or disproportionate car lights, unauthorized changes in the color of the lights and the use of unconventional colors, not adjusting the height and angle of the lights, inappropriate light intensity and glare for the drivers in front, and defects in the brake lights, turn signals and rear lights are among these.

In the end, the head of the Traffic Police Information Center of Greater Tehran said: "More than 12,000 violations of using floodlights or lights with extra dazzling light (alvan lights) or having a white light at the back and a red light at the front of the vehicle and more than 67,000 violations of effective technical defects or defects in the lighting system at night have been enforced in the capital since the beginning of 1405. has

According to the law, if a driver gets 30 negative points in the first stage, his license will be confiscated for three months; In the second stage, 25 negative marks will result in the confiscation of the license for six months, and in the third stage, with 20 negative marks, the license will be invalidated, and the driver can apply for the license again only after passing the training courses and paying the fee. Also, vehicles with defects in the lighting system or the use of xenon or dazzling lights, when the technical examination is canceled on the spot, are given a deadline to fix the defect and after the defect is fixed, they can apply for the technical examination again.
