Zinc oxide quantum dots chart a new path for quantum computers
Researchers at Tohoku University in Japan, in collaboration with the National Institute for Materials Science and the University of Tokyo, have taken a major step toward semiconductor-based quantum computing. They succeeded in using radio-frequency charge sensing in a zinc oxide device and demonstrated the creation of a "double quantum dot" with a very small number of electrons.
