Mike Flanagan Rewrote Carrie Finale After Hearing Haute & Freddy's Track; Band Says It "Became the Identity of Our Music"

Although the period celebration in Prime Video's Carrie has ended, the telekinetic teen is still dancing, thanks to Mike Flanagan's big push. Despite Carrie's Prime Video Party ending, the telekinetic teenager still dances a little thanks to Mike Flanagan's big needle.

Flanagan told Please Relate To This, "So Haute & Freddy became our musical identity pretty quickly. We heard 'Shy Girl' before the album came out. We heard 'Shy Girl,' and that made me rewrite episode 8 to bring it into the series." This part became the basis of our music. I listened to the Haute & Freddy album, this was before it came out, and I was like, "This is our show."

Flanagan even wrote some of the band's merchandise on the show, as Carrie (Summer H. Howell) finds Tina (Josie Tota) Howtt and Freddie's t-shirt in Missing School and turns it into her own. “We thought it would be great to make this t-shirt, I love that t-shirt,” he gushed. Watch on Deadline

Noting that he also wrote the lyrics to Lana Del Rey's "Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard" in the script, Flanagan explained that other featured artists "appeared organically through production and post."

"But I think Haute & Freddy, more than anything else, defined the show for us," Flanagan added. "They're huge. It's been great watching them explode. To me, they're the genetic identity of the sound of our show."

The eight-episode series follows Carrie White (Howell), a misfit high school student who hides her life within the walls of her house and her ultra-conservative and openly religious mother, Margaret (Samantha Slovian). After the sudden and untimely death of her father thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of a public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal engulfing her community, the relentless pressure and occasional cruelty of the social media age, and a mysterious awakening alongside her telekinetic powers.
