Nourmofidi: Clergy Bear Heavy Responsibility for Preserving Unity and Guiding Society

Gorgan — The Supreme Leader's Representative in Golestan said that intellectual and spiritual guidance of society, countering the enemy's divisive schemes, and strengthening social unity and cohesion are among the most important duties of scholars and clerics.

According to Mehr reporter, Ayatollah Seyyed Kazem Nurmfidi, in the commemoration ceremony of religious martyrs of Golestan province, referring to the beginning of the academic year of seminaries, drew attention to the place of scholars and clergy in the history of Islam and stated: throughout history, the clergy has had important responsibilities such as guarding the legacy of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), recognizing and explaining religion, and protecting the beliefs and faith of the people.

He added: Islamic scholars over the centuries, despite many ups and downs and difficulties, have tried to preserve religious knowledge, and along with that, they have also followed the duty of propagating and transmitting divine teachings to the society.

Referring to the role of Imam Khomeini (RA) in the formation of the Islamic government, the representative of the Supreme Leader in Golestan said: One of the important developments that took place with the movement of Imam Rahal was the entry of seminaries and clergy into the realm of realizing Islamic governance. A movement that started from mosques, religious centers and clerical bodies and led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution with the support of the people.

Normfidi continued: Imam Khomeini (RA) created a new movement in seminaries and provided a basis for Islam, in addition to the position of faith and religion, to be brought up in the field of governance as well. This development expanded the responsibility of the clergy to different areas of social life.

Referring to the position of clerical martyrs during the revolution and defense of the country, he said: The presence of clerics in the fields of defending Islam and the revolution and offering many martyrs from this group shows their serious participation in this path.

The responsibility of the clergy in the field of governance

The representative of the religious jurist in Golestan stated that the responsibility of the clergy today is not limited to the traditional areas of preaching and religious education, and clarified: Now that Islam is in the field of governance, the scholars must strive to guide and manage various social affairs based on Islamic and jurisprudential principles.

He added: This responsibility is difficult and sensitive; Because the performance of the Islamic society in the field of governance has drawn many eyes to the ability of Islam to manage the society. Therefore, the clergy should strive for the correct realization of religious values in different social and cultural fields.

Referring to the views of the Martyr of the Revolution regarding the duties of the clergy, Nurmfidi stated: intellectual and spiritual guidance of the society and political guidance of the people is one of the important responsibilities of the scholars; A responsibility that is not fulfilled only by speaking and preaching, but the behavior, ethics and performance of the clergy must also be in harmony with religious teachings.

Unity is the way to deal with the division of the enemy

In another part of his speech, he considered the attempt to create discord in the society as one of the threats facing the country and said: the enemies are trying to weaken the beliefs of the people by using media and propaganda tools and affect the unity and cohesion of the society by fomenting discord.

The representative of the Supreme Leader in Golestan emphasized the role of the clergy in dealing with these currents and added: Scholars should prevent the spread of differences by accurately understanding the conditions, providing awareness and enlightenment, and invite people to maintain unity, empathy and harmony.

Pointing to the need to pay attention to the difference between constructive criticism and destruction, he said: Criticism is valuable when it is based on a detailed understanding of the issue, examining all aspects and providing a solution; But commenting without sufficient knowledge and only with the aim of creating dissatisfaction will not help to solve problems.

Referring to the efforts of the officials in the difficult conditions of the country, Nurmefidi noted: We should see the efforts of those who are trying to manage the affairs and solve the problems of the people and appreciate their services. At the same time, fair criticism and providing a solution to solve the shortcomings should also be done in the way of improving things.

Warning about ethnic and religious differences

Referring to the sensitivity of the situation in the region, the representative of the Supreme Leader in Golestan warned against efforts to create ethnic and religious differences and said: The clergy should be aware of the surrounding developments and not allow discord to weaken the solidarity of the people.

He emphasized: maintaining social unity and cohesion, especially in the current sensitive situation, requires the vigilance of scholars, officials and different sections of the society, and the clergy should be a pioneer in this field.
