Extension of Eslamshahr Metro to Ghaem Square Placed on Municipalities' Agenda
The extension of the Eslamshahr metro line to Ghaem Square was pursued through a review of the partnership memorandum between the Eslamshahr and Baharestan municipalities. Implementing this section requires cooperation from the urban management of the relevant districts, and the financial and executive shares of the municipalities will be determined after cost estimates.
The continuation of the Islamshahr metro line to Maidan Qaim station was followed by the review of the memorandum of understanding between the municipalities of Islamshahr and Baharestan in the meeting of the Islamic Council of Islamshahr on Monday. The plan, which aims to develop rail transportation and facilitate the movement of citizens, requires the cooperation of the urban management of the two cities.
According to ambassador Arjan, the digging operation of the Islamshahr metro line has been done up to the Mahdieh street area and the rail laying of this section is also underway.
According to the terms of the MoU under review, the continuation of digging and construction of the tunnel, the implementation of rail laying operations and the construction and completion of track stations with the participation of the municipalities of Islamshahr, Nasimshahr and Golestan are expected.
Also, the financial and executive contribution of each of the participating municipalities will be determined after expert estimation of costs and through legal procedures. The formation of a joint working group and coordination between related institutions is also one of the other axes of this memorandum to follow up the project implementation process.
Continuation of the metro line to Qaim Square can expand the access of the citizens of Islamshahr and neighboring areas to rail transportation, and by facilitating commuting in the southwest of Tehran province, it will help to reduce part of the traffic and car trips.
