UN reacts to escalating fighting / drone attacks on commercial ships condemned

Stephane Dujarric, expressing concern over intense fighting in Taiz and rising maritime risks, called on all parties to exercise restraint and return to political dialogue.

Stephane Dujarric added to reporters on Tuesday, New York time: "We are also concerned about the intense clashes on several fronts, especially in Taez, and as we have said before, it has devastating humanitarian consequences for civilians."

The UN spokesperson stated: We ask the parties to exercise restraint and prevent any further escalation of tension.

He also emphasized the need for the parties to adhere to their obligations according to international humanitarian law and said: We ask them to refrain from direct attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructures and always take necessary precautions to save the lives of civilians and protect the infrastructures used by them.

Dujarric clarified: As we have said many times, there is no military solution to this conflict and we are not the only side that has such a position.

The spokesperson of the United Nations said: We want all involved parties to find a path for an inclusive dialogue in order to reach a political solution through negotiations.

We condemn drone attacks on ships in the Black Sea. Dojaric also said about the drone attacks on ships in the Black Sea: We condemn the attacks on these civilian ships, especially the latest one that happened near the coast of Bulgaria. You know, this is very worrying because attacks on ships carrying grain, food and other products for global markets have recently increased and spread.

The UN spokesperson emphasized: these attacks have destructive effects on the prices of goods all over the world; Especially when we see the situation around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.

He added: In addition, the dangers faced by seafarers should not be underestimated. Ignored that in many cases they are fatal. These dangers threaten not only sailors active in the Black Sea, but also sailors present in the Strait of Hormuz and other regions of the world.

Dujarric continued: We are all appreciative of these sailors and should consider ourselves indebted to their efforts; Seafarers who continue to work in extremely dangerous conditions so that the goods we depend on for our daily lives do not stop flowing.
