Sabr Zainabi; A story of resistance that turned failure into the permanence of truth
The patience of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) was more than enduring adversity and suffering, her life in Kufa and Sham showed that it is possible to defend the truth at the height of hardships, without surrendering to oppression, and with clarity and courage, she did not allow the enemy to distort the truth.
According to the Missionary Thought and Culture Base, the patience of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) should not be reduced to the passive tolerance of suffering and sorrow. Zainabi's patience is a model of conscious resistance, defense of rights and preservation of human dignity, which, relying on rationality and religious foundations, can open the way for different generations in the face of oppression and injustice.
According to the narration of Ambassador Arjan, Hojjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Hadi Soroush, professor of jurisprudence and philosophy at Qom Seminary, at the same time as the anniversary of the birth of Hazrat Zainab (pbuh), in a conversation describing the aspects of her personality and life after the Karbala incident, he stated: One of the most important concepts that comes up in connection with the life and role of Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) after Ashura is "Zainabi's patience"; A concept that not only in the history of Islam, but also in the individual and social life of people can be a strategic model for defending the right and truth.
To properly understand this model, the patience of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) should not be reduced to a kind of passive tolerance or submission to the pressures of the enemy. A precise understanding of this concept requires that we first understand the meaning of patience in religious teachings and then examine its relationship with the behavior and positions of Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) in facing the sufferings of Karbala and the events that followed.
patience; Self-control over reason and evil
Referring to the definition of patience in the works of religious scholars and mystics, this professor of Qom Seminary said: Patience has been defined with the phrase "self-restraint on our part, which is required by al-aql and Shar'a"; This means that man manages himself according to the requirements of reason and Sharia and does not deviate from the right path in the face of events.
Patience does not mean passivity and giving up responsibility, but it is a kind of conscious self-restraint that helps a person to behave according to reason, faith and moral principles even in difficult situations. Accordingly, patience can be associated with courage, making the right decision, and standing up to pressure.
Referring to the 17th verse of Surah Luqman, "Wasperser for what is wrong with you, this is the end of the determination of affairs", he said: The Holy Quran introduces patience in the face of difficulties as one of the important things that require determination and steadfastness. In the interpretation of this verse, it has been emphasized that a person should maintain self-control, courage and endurance in the face of events and pressures.
This professor of jurisprudence and philosophy of Qom seminary added: Patience that is accompanied by will, stability and courage, goes beyond the level of mere tolerance and becomes a factor for preserving identity, dignity and human principles. From this point of view, the patience of Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) can be seen as an outstanding example of what the Qur'an refers to as "determination of affairs".
Sabr Zainabi; Endurance combined with activism
Saying that the life of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) after the incident of Karbala is a clear example of active patience, Soroush said: Her presence in Kufa and Sham and facing the difficult social and political conditions of that time shows that Zainabi's patience did not only mean enduring adversity, but was accompanied by enlightenment, defending the truth, and standing against oppression.
Patience that does not end in the benefit of the enemy, does not lead to acceptance of defeat and submission to his will, and can be a source of awareness and resistance for others and future generations, is an active and effective patience. In such a model, even if a person loses an important part of his possessions in accidents, he can still play a role in defending the truth by maintaining his principles and positions.
Referring to the encounter of Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) with Obaidullah bin Ziad, this professor of Qom seminary said: When Ibn Ziad tried to present the incident of Karbala as a sign of failure and disgrace of the Prophet's (pbuh) family, Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) challenged this narrative with a decisive answer and returned the criteria for evaluating human character from the appearance of events to purity, morality and truth.
According to him, this position shows that Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) did not allow the enemy to define the meaning of the event according to his will, even when she was in a position of weakness and captivity. Such behavior is a manifestation of courage, self-respect and patience, which is connected with awareness and defense of the truth.
Don't limit Zainab's message to an emotional narrative
Emphasizing the need for a rational and deep reading of Hazrat Zainab's life, Soroush said: Her message should not be limited to a purely emotional narration of history; Because the messages that rely only on emotions may be removed from the society's attention by subsiding temporary emotions. On the other hand, a message based on reasoning, human foundations and religious principles can remain effective in various situations.
The biography of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) has capacities that can be considered as a strategic model for Islamic societies and even all people who face oppression and injustice. This model shows that faith and spirituality not only do not conflict with rationality and social responsibility, but can be the basis of conscious resistance and reform of society.
Enlightenment in Kufa; Dealing with social neglect
Referring to the positions of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) in Kufa, this professor of jurisprudence and philosophy of Qom Seminary said: One of the important aspects of her life was facing a society that, according to him, was caught in neglect and neglect of its religious and social responsibilities.
In her speech, Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) tried to inform the people of Kufa about the position of Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH), the consequences of their behavior and the gap that had been created between their religious claims and their actions. In fact, he paid attention to the roots of society's deviation from the right and showed how the dominance of worldly interests and neglect of responsibilities can become the basis for oppression.
This part of Hazrat Zainab's biography shows that active patience is not only limited to individual standing, but can be accompanied by social criticism, awakening public opinion and inviting people to reconsider their behavior and choices.
evening sermon; Standing against power and demanding justice
Referring to Hazrat Zainab's (pbuh) sermon in Syria, he said: If in Kufa, enlightenment and warning to the neglected society were the main axes of his speech, in Syria, direct confrontation with the ruling system and exposing the nature of oppression becomes more important.
This professor of Qom seminary added: Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) took a clear position against Yazid bin Muawiya, as the ruler of that time, and criticized the behavior of the Umayyad system in attacking the family of the Prophet (pbuh) and violating human and religious rights. With this stance, he did not allow political power to be the criterion for distinguishing between right and wrong.
In this sermon, in addition to the introduction of oppression and criticism of the ruler's behavior, the issue of litigation also has an important place. The phrase "Allahum Khad Lena Haqna, Maman Zalmna Wa Qalnana" expresses the request to take back the right from the oppressors and emphasizes the necessity of responding to oppression and bloodshed.
These positions show that Zainabi's patience is fundamentally different from accepting oppression. Hazrat Zainab (pbuh) not only defended her right and the family of the Prophet (pbuh) at the height of the calamity, but also challenged the oppressive behavior of the government. Therefore, his life can be a model for defending justice, demanding rights and preserving human dignity in difficult situations.
Permanence of truth; Sabr Zainabi's final message
In another part of his speech, Soroush considered one of the important messages of Hazrat Zainab's (pbuh) biography to be the hope for the permanence of the truth and said: In the face of Yazid, the Prophet (pbuh) clearly declared that the enemy's efforts to erase the name and memory of Ahl al-Bayt (pbuh) and destroy the works of the Prophet's (pbuh) mission will not succeed.
Referring to the phrase "Faked Kidak Wasa Saayik", he added: The message of this saying is that the enemy can use its power and facilities to distort the truth or silence the voice of the truth, but these actions do not necessarily lead to the destruction of the truth.
This professor of Qom seminary pointed out: From the perspective of Hazrat Zainab's (pbuh) biography, the permanence of truth does not mean the absence of apparent suffering and failures; Rather, it means that bitter events and occasional pressures cannot alone determine the final fate of a truth. Oppression may cast a shadow on the atmosphere of society for a while, but the conscious defense of the right can provide the basis for its message to last in history.
Zainabi's patience is a model in which perseverance is connected with rationality, faith with social responsibility, and tolerance of suffering with defending the right. Rereading this model can help societies to follow the path of awareness, justice and resistance in the face of crises, instead of giving in to pressure or getting caught in purely emotional reactions, while maintaining human dignity and relying on moral and religious principles.
