With Mummy 4 in full swing, Oded Fehr jokes that there is no Mummy 3, though John Hannah firmly disagrees

With The Mummy 4 currently filming ahead of its October 15, 2027 release date, Oded Fehr, who reprises his Ardeth Bay role, joked that only two Mummy films have been released.

During a joint interview with John Hannah, who returns as Jonathan Carnahan in The Mummy 4, at Comic-Con Holland, Fehr talked about how it felt to play Ardeth Bay once again decades later. While talking about the experience, she ruled out a third Mummy movie with the subtitle Tomb of the Dragon Emperor - although Hannah clearly disagreed with the sentiment.

"It's a very positive thing," Fehr said of filming the original. "The Mummy, The Mummy Returns - there wasn't a third - but those two movies were so...serious, it was just fun."

At this moment, Hannah grinned and held up three fingers to the camera. Then he said: "There was a third movie."

Fehr continued: "No, there were two people. "But, that's a difference of opinion."

While it appears to be a bit of harmless banter between the other actors, Fehr's comment addresses the sentiment surrounding the franchise surrounding The Mummy 4, which stars Brendan Fraser in his iconic role as Rick O'Connell alongside Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O'Connell.

Wiz did not appear in the third installment of The Splits (Maria Bello played the character instead), and many fans feel that The Mummy 3 suffered as a result. Some fans have discounted it entirely, suggesting that the events of The Mummy 3 should not be considered an event at all. Back in March, The Mummy 4 directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette seemed to back that sentiment.

"Well, Rachel is in this one," Bettinelli Olpin said when asked by Entertainment Weekly if they considered Tomb of the Dragon Emperor canon.

“That should answer your question,” Gillette then confirmed.

Oded Fehr wasn't in The Mummy 3 either, so maybe you can understand his feelings about it. However, Hannah appeared in all three Mummy movies, which is perhaps why she defended The Mummy 3 in this interview.

We still don't know much about The Mummy 4 - not even the final title has been announced. But set photos show both Fraser and Wise in a setting that resembles post-war Britain in the 1950s.
