Blow to Piazza: Star Player Sidelined
Alexander Shifka was injured in his first training session with Projekt Warsaw and will be out for at least two weeks; however, Roberto Piazza stresses that he is not worried about his team's star player's health.
According to "Varzeh Se", Alexander Shifka's bad luck continues. This Polish volleyball star and European champion, who recently joined the Warsaw Project team, got injured in his first training session with this team and will be out of action for at least two weeks.
The Project Warsaw team, which recently performed brilliantly in the Tomasz Wojtywicz Memorial tournament and managed to defeat Polish runner-up Bogdanka Luc Lublin in the finals, was without Alexander Szyfka in this tournament. The 31-year-old receiver, who started training with his new club after the end of the national season, felt pain in his right leg during the first training session. Medical tests revealed that he had a "compression fracture" in his metatarsal bone.
"Due to injury, Shifka is currently not training with the team," the club announced in its official statement. Thanks to the quick response of the medical staff, the problem was detected at an early stage. Considering the length of the upcoming season, we will not take any risks and all our focus is on Olek's full recovery."
Šifka was seen on crutches with his right foot in an orthopedic boot during the memorial service for Tomasz Wojtowicz in Lublin. Initial estimates indicate two to three weeks away from training, although some speculation suggests that he may need more time to recover.
Roberto Piazza, head coach of the Italian Project Warsaw, said: "I am not worried about Olek's health." We have to wait and monitor his recovery process. For extra caution, no pressure should be applied to this ankle at this time; Because he was seriously injured in the same area last year."
