Come On, What Are You Doing with a Razer? This Pokémon-Themed Mouse Is Definitely Not It
Now listen, I'm not a designer, but...

For a company that makes the best mouse I've ever laid eyes on, it sure seems like it's going out of its way to demystify it. That is, assuming the latest images from Razer on Chinese site Billibilli of a Pokemon-themed Viper V4 Pro are anything to go by (via Jakeu). You can see it in all its glory in the tweet above—what do you think?
It looks awful to me. There's just something about that weird combination of gray, yellow and green that looks so out of sync. That, and the fact that the pixel art and yellow Poke circle on the body of the mouse looks about as seamless as your average in-game graffiti emoticon. I just slapped in there without a care in the world.
I'm being harsh, but to be fair, this is right after we heard another potential version of the Viper V4 Pro could cost $300. At least, if currency conversion is involved and it is actually listed for sale on the Chinese market, as claimed.
Why can't a good thing be left alone? The Viper V4 Pro is fantastic, partly because it's sleek and simple looking, but also because it's cheaper than other top-of-the-line gaming mice from big brands.
There's also a chair, and a keyboard that my colleague James says he prefers the look of to a mouse. I think I agree, but I still think the gray clashes too much with the green.
Back to the Viper though, there could have been a chance to make a proper Pokeball-themed red and white version here, but instead we get these gray monsters and whatever.
I'll just keep the white, thank you very much.

Jacob put his hands on a gaming computer for the first time when he was about 12 years old. He quickly realized that the local computer repair shop had ripped him off with his build and vowed to never let another soul build his rig again. With this vow, Yaqub the hardware addict was born. Since then, Jacob has led a double life as a hardware geek, semi-philosophical professional, first working as a hardware writer for PCGamesN in 2020, then working on a PhD in philosophy for a few years while working for sites like TechRadar, Pocket-lint, Pocket-lint, and Pocket-lint. Eventually, he gave up the brutal mercenary life and joined the world's #1 PC gaming site full-time. He assures us that it is definitely not a carnal thing.
