The manager of the Peacock platform has recently reacted to the status of the third season of the Ted series.
In 2012, Seth MacFarlane introduced the character of Ted to the audience; A talking and foul-mouthed teddy bear that comes to life during Jon Bennet's childhood due to his unwanted wish. Following the success of the first film and its sequel, Ted 2, both set in contemporary times, the Ted television series moved into the 1990s. This series was broadcast on the Peacock service in 2024, but now there is not a very promising prospect for its third season.
Lisa Katz, Head of Fiction Content at NBC and the Peacock Service, announced in an interview with Ambassador Arjan that there are currently no plans to produce a third season of Ted and that the service is focusing on the animated version instead. Katz refers to the animated series Ted, which is supposed to entertain fans of this comedy series by airing in late 2026. With this decision, the adventure of the live-action version of Ted seems to be over for now; However, it is not yet clear whether the possibility of making a third season will be re-examined in the future.
The announcement comes seven months after Seth MacFarlane told ScreenRant that there are no direct plans for a live-action Ted sequel. In another interview, he cited the high costs of producing and creating Ted's character using special computer effects as one of the main reasons for abandoning the third season.
In addition to voicing the main character, McFarlane also directed all the episodes of the series; Just like the movies of this series, which he wrote the screenplay with Alec Salkin and Wellesley Wilde. Max Burkholder, Alanna Obach, Scott Grimes and Georgia Whigham are the other main actors of the series.
As the Ted animated series takes place after the events of Ted 2, the series will be taking a break from the prequel stories for the time being. Mark Wahlberg reprises his role as the adult John, and Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barrett reprise their roles as Sam and Tommy Lynn, respectively. Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman also voice new characters named Apollo and Ruth.
The first eight episodes of the animated series Ted will be broadcast on Thursday, December 17 (26 December 1405) on Peacock, and more episodes will be released in 2027. Seth MacFarlane created the series and executive produces it along with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh.
