Sugar Production to Maintain Russia's High Export Potential – Central Bank
According to this report, sugar production nationwide could reach 6.3 million tons in the 2026-2027 season.
Moscow, October 15. /TASS/. Russia's sugar production is expected to reach 6.3 million tonnes for the 2026-2027 season, in line with industry analysts' estimates, the Bank of Russia said in its regional economic report seen by TASS.
"The amount of new sugar harvested across the country is broadly on par with 2025 levels (13.3% compared to 13.4% last year). The sugar beet harvest is expected to exceed last year's volume. According to industry analysts, nationwide sugar production could reach 6.3 million tons in 2026-2027."
According to flash data from industry analysts, the area under cultivation and the amount of sugar beet harvest is less than last year, which is due to the delay in planting in the central regions. By late September, almost a third of the area under cultivation had been harvested, yielding 17.3 million tonnes of sugar beet (a 13.2% decrease from last year). However, the performance is significantly higher than last year due to the southern regions.
Consumer sugar prices continued their annual growth in September (they were declining in September 2025). The current price growth was due to the gradual reduction of reserves as well as the increase in exports amid the increase in global prices.
