Another Celebrity Backs AI: Antonio Banderas Becomes 'Messiah'!
Antonio Banderas is the latest celebrity to back an AI studio.
Antonio Banderas will star in the AI-based film Cortes.
According to Ambassador Arjan, quoted by Variety, Antonio Banderas is the latest celebrity to support an artificial intelligence studio. The Oscar-nominated actor stars in Utopia Studio's "Courts," which will be directed by Paul Migno and based on a screenplay by Nicholas Kazan.
Now in production in Paris, the film is about Hernán Cortés, a 1519 honor-hungry soldier who leads an expedition to the Yucatan, and stars Banderas.
Synopsis: After landing on the beach in what is now Mexico, he meets Marina, an enslaved native woman with a talent for language, and her ability becomes essential to his progress. As Cortés transforms fragile alliances, faith, and fear into tools of conquest, Marina watches him transform from a daring outlaw to a self-proclaimed messiah.
The film is a co-production between Utopia and X Machina, a new production company that says it works with an ethical and artist-driven integration of artificial intelligence.
“Cortes is exactly why we built this studio,” Utopay co-founder and CEO Cecilia Shen said in a statement. Our task is to build production around this vision. Nicolas has written a wonderful script, Paul has a clear cinematic vision, and Antonio puts the necessary humanity at the center. We want to give them the ability to make the movie they want to make.
Banderas is the latest Hollywood veteran to align himself with a company focused on artificial intelligence. This seal of approval is given while the film industry is still divided on the presence of this technology in production.
Utopia has gathered a wide range of projects that are either completely produced by artificial intelligence or with the ability to use artificial intelligence and intend to build them. One of these projects is a long animation adaptation of a children's book with the help of artificial intelligence. The studio is also working with Chinese production company Huas on a fully AI-based production based on Journey to the West: The Lost Five Hundred Years, the original story of a Chinese mythological book from 1592.
Banderas is also set to star as Anthony Bourdain's trainer Jose Vatel in Tony.
