UAE Activists Celebrate Saudi Setbacks in Yemen

As the rift between Saudi Arabia and the UAE deepens, Abu Dhabi, still angered by its expulsion from southern Yemen by Riyadh, has set strict preconditions for joining the war.

In the shadow of deepening the scope of the disputes between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Abu Dhabi, which is still angry about the expulsion from southern Yemen by Saudi Arabia, has set strict preconditions for entering the war.

According to the report of Ambassador Arjan, quoted by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, despite the visit of Mansour bin Zayed, the Vice President of the UAE to Saudi Arabia, there is still no sign of an agreement on the disputes surrounding Yemen. In exchange for entering the war, Abu Dhabi has stipulated to reclaim the management of the south and maintain its share; While Riyadh insists on his own game pieces and accuses the "Southern Transitional Council" of betrayal.

It seems that Riyadh is not ready to accept Abu Dhabi's demands to limit the management of the southern provinces in its own hands; Because Saudi Arabia considers these provinces as its sphere of influence and political and military contribution. However, Saudi Arabia views these demands from a more strategic angle and is concerned that giving in to UAE influence in the south will weaken its remaining cards in the Yemeni equation.

Despite the difficult situation of the Saudis in Yemen and their need to use all their assets, the mercenary government of Riyadh in Aden still accuses "Aidros al-Zubaidi", the head of the "Southern Transitional Council", of great treason, and some activists or those close to Riyadh accuse Abu Dhabi of colluding with the government of Sana'a and field coordination with commanders affiliated with the "Transitional Council".

On the other hand, the UAE does not have the ability to be directly involved in the war alongside Saudi Arabia; Especially in a situation where major international and regional powers avoid such a conflict due to its security and strategic risks.

In addition, the UAE is still experiencing the consequences of the Israeli-American war against Iran, and it is not in its interest to enter into another confrontation with very high costs.

According to political observers, the only situation in which the UAE can decide to participate directly in the Yemen war is the entry of the United States into this conflict in the form of a comprehensive plan in which Abu Dhabi retains its share of the spoils. This is exactly what happened in 2021; When the UAE returned to this country at the request of Washington to attack Marib against the Yemeni armed forces, after it had officially announced its withdrawal in 2019.

At the moment, the positions of the Emirati media and the southern platforms affiliated to Abu Dhabi show that the UAE has not yet given up on the consequences of Saudi Arabia's "grave insult" in expelling them from the southern provinces of Yemen late last year. Even the activists and politicians of southern Yemen do not hide their happiness over Riyadh's failures in managing military operations and maintaining its vital facilities.
