David Khoo, 34, was accused of trying to kill a female colleague by lacing her food and water with the toxic metal cadmium. او بعداً خواهان عدم رقابت شد.
A woman whose co-worker was convicted of poisoning her is releasing the hidden camera footage that helped lead to her arrest, just as she's asking a judge to overturn her conviction.
According to prosecutors, David Zhou, who previously worked as a senior materials engineer at Berkeley Engineering and Research in California, poisoned colleague Rong Yuan's food and water with cadmium, a toxic heavy metal, for more than a year, spanning from 2017 to 2019.
While Zhou's charges included attempted murder and two counts of intoxication, he was offered a plea to one count of intoxication and one year of probation, to which he pleaded no contest, according to the San Francisco Standard. During Shaw's sentencing hearing in 2024, the judge imposed two years of probation, calling the deal "very generous, considering everything in this case."
Yuan released a video that appears to show Zhou pouring a substance into his water bottle as Zhou was set to ask an Alameda County judge to throw out the felony conviction on Monday.
The California engineer allegedly tried to poison and kill his colleague with a "toxic amount of cadmium," police said.

While the district attorney's office has objected to Khoo's request to have his felony dismissed, California law requires judges to grant the request as long as the defendant is on parole.
Yuan told the Standard that releasing the hidden camera video was his "last resort" to a legal system he believes has failed him.
He was hired by Berkeley Engineering and Research in January 2017 and recalled that his first encounter with Zhou was tense, claiming that he told him he could not use the company's material properties lab.
The symptoms worsened in July 2017, when she woke up and took a few sips from her water bottle, saying, "I felt like I was going to die."
In late 2018, after repeated visits to the hospital, he sent an email on November 27, 2018, saying that he was on his way out and would not be coming to the office.

"You should work from home until you feel better. There's no reason to rush," Xu replied. "من فکر می کنم BEAR کپک زده است."
Yuan had a similar feeling after drinking from her table water bottle in January 2019, reminding her "I'm going." Her mother drank the water from the bottle and noticed that it tasted sour, which made her suspect that her water had been tampered with. او سپس یک دوربین جاسوسی در آمازون سفارش داد.
Yuan placed the camera on his desk on February 11, 2019, and Shu was seen reaching the area where his water bottle was at 11:04 a.m.
According to the police, the Emmy Award-winning journalist hid the cameras in the dressing room of the TV station.
